Mallory looked up into the eyes of her rescuer. He is built, and tall.

A manly figure, indeed.

His eyes bore into the customer's, like a laser hitting it's target dead on.

If looks could kill... Mallory thought, a little too humourlessly to herself.

If looks could kill, this man would surely be dead. He would have slid off of his stool, sagging to the ground. His body would have fallen in on itself, as his chin collided with his chest. A loud thud would have erupted, and the customers and music would be silenced, as every one looked upon the waste of skin that would be of less importance then the dirt that occupies the floor itself.

"You should leave." The mysterious, rescuer angrily pointed out to the customer.

The customer merely laughed.

As if the tall, well-built, dangerous looking man did  not intimidate him.

"I said, get the fuck out." He shot back, poking the drunk in his chest repeatedly."Now."

Mallory stands in fear and shock, watching as her harrasser quickly bolts off of the stool, and wobbles straight through the exit. She can't help but wonder what had changed the drunks' mind so quickly? At first he had thought the situation humorous, in his drunken stupor.

What changed?

She looks up to find a pair of golden - black orbs staring intensely at her. Her face flushes almost immediately, and she nervously looks down to his shirt buttons. Relieved for the distraction, Mallory allows herself to release the air that she had been, unknowingly,  holding in her lungs.

"Are you alright?" The man asks her, his voice gruff.

Although he sounds less angry, she can't bring herself to look into his eyes. She settles for his right cheek instead.

"I-I'm fine. Thank you for helping out." She replies, still unable to make eye - contact.

"Good. Now don't ever do something like that again!" He bursts, his voice back to an angry, ear-splitting demand.

This brings Mallory's eyes up to meet his.

Her jaw visibly drops, and the fear she was feeling is no longer visible.

She is angry.

Appalled.

Who the hell does this man think he is?

She hadn't done anything wrong.

She did nothing to provoke the drunk.

"How dare-" She started, but he had already turned around and was heading for the exit.

What a peculiar man, she thought as she shakes her head in disbelief.

"Another round for the lady over here, please?" Someone shouted across the bar, which was her cue.

Back to work.

                                                                                     ***

Tynan brings the bottle of beer to his lips, cherishing the cold shiver that rattles his bones. He takes a  large, long swig and puts the bottle back on the bar top. That Mallory girl was really something. Making him get all tough-guy for her. How could she be so honest and trusting? Men are vultures, looking for their next victim. That guy back at the other bar had been drunken, and charmed by her pure innocence. She had been lucky that he had been there to stop him from doing anything to drastic.

Images of his grimy fingers pushing into the delicate flesh of her wrist burden his thoughts. The image of the drunk stalking her at night, when she least expects it spur from his imagination. His grip noticeably tightens on his beer, his knuckles turning a ghostly white.

Why do I even care?

I don't.

He convinced himself that he surely could not care for someone that would have doomed him, and trapped him in a life of light. A life full of happiness, and rainbows. Purity and serenity. Who the hell wants something like that, anyways? Tynan much preferred his life lurking in the darkness, being feared of.

He enjoyed watching people, even angels, shiver in cowardly fear before they would run off screaming for help. Tynan had worked hard to get where he is now.

He grew up in a house full of other angels, the same as him. But he was always sticking out. Always a little bit different from the others. Instead of dreaming about the person that he would get paired with in the future, he thought about power.

The power that he now had in his possession.

He is the most sought after, dark angel.

Some would even call him a demon.

But he is like the King, among other evil.

He has never shown mercy upon others, and his evil doings have no boundaries.

Tynan watched as his brothers and sisters chose the light, one after another. And to their defence, they looked happy. But he knew that this was just phase one of the life of light. They always looked happy. In the beginning.

But then they looked horrid.

Tired.

Powerless.

Forever forced to follow their Father Angel's rules. Whatever they say, goes. They choose a woman/man for the angel to gaurd. This said woman/man is always a human being. Always a weakling. The angel is to make sure that no harm comes to this person, and in most cases the angel makes a connection with their human. This connection is said to be a bond of sorts, and only happens when the human and angel accept each other for who they are. In some cases the said human and angel become great friends. In most cases though, they become lovers.

A friend and, or a lover would complicate things for Tynan.

Would hold him down.

Leaving him no choice but to give up his power, and fierce stance of The dark angel.

He wouldn't let that happen.

Not ever.

Finishing his beer, Tynan places a ten dollar bill on the bar top and walks to the exit. Glancing at his watch, he scowls as he realizes what time it is.

Two - thirty am.

"Shit." He scowls to himself, as he races towards the alley-way that leads to Mallory's apartment.
