'You've got us in so much trouble, Harry!' Hermione sniffled. 'And you too, Ron!'

'Tell me something new.' Harry said nonchalantly. 'I'll just earn the points back with the next Quidditch match, easy, like I always do.'

Hermione crossed her arms disapprovingly before her chest and raked her chin up. 'You needn't get this...I don't know—cocky, now. Just because it's been like this in the past means you should get comfortable with doing the wrong things.'

'I'm not getting comfortable with the wrong things, I'm merely fighting Snape for being a dirt.' Harry explained to her reasonably.

'He's got a point.' Ron said, but then his eyes spotted something by the windows. 'Hey look, seems like Fred and George are having mad fun with the others. Let's join in.'

'All right, let's go.' Hermione sighed, already following him. 'Are you coming, Harry?'

But Harry didn't respond. Instead, he came to a stop in the middle of the hall, watching how his friends were already mingling with the others, who were laughing around Fred.

He was holding a familiar notebook under its spine and pressed his other hand down between the pages to keep them open for the others to see.

It was Neville's diary, and apparently now that Fred was reading out of it and not Harry that made it okay. Even Neville was laughing! Shyly and blushed red from embarrassment, but he totally just let him.

Up in the Gryffindor dormitory Harry isolated himself from the others, handling his ziplock bag rathe ruddily by pinching it up from one side and shaking it.

But the snakes inside it wouldn't wake up, they kept asleep in a stone-like state which was highly surprising because just a week ago his one was the first to wake up, and even bite him, but that was it before it went back to sleep.

He threw it back over his shoulder where it landed on the mattress behind him. It just seemed so strange to him, how all the other snakes woke up without any complications while Harry's didn't, as if someone was playing a foul joke on him.
