Avalon's POV

Tryst was certainly a character. Flamboyant and sharp witted, it was refreshing to have someone like him around. He was always cheerful as he went about his business, whistling and singing as he worked. As it turned out, Tryst was a highly skilled alchemist, possibly on a par with the skills of Gaius. Tryst had no magic himself, but he used his vast array of potions and elixirs to enchant items. His intelligence could take me by surprise sometimes. It was possible he was the cleverest man I'd ever met.

Despite all his wonderful features, there were moments that he'd began to grate on my nerves a little in the past few days. His eccentric character was usually wonderful, but sometimes the singing did get a bit annoying. He also did not stop with his suggestive remarks. I'd grown up around nobility for a large part of my life, and although my time in Camelot had opened my eyes a great deal, I felt that Tryst was sometimes a bit too much for me with all the things he kept insinuating.

At least having Tryst around prevented me from feeling so alone.

For the few days we'd been travelling together, we had made our way through the forest at a leisurely pace. We were taking a very roundabout route in the vague direction of Camelot. With Merlin and Levalen gone, I wasn't really sure where I should go. I felt sure that Levalen would have gone back to the elven lands, and I wasn't ready to return for a while yet. By slowly making my way to Camelot, hopefully I would think of a way in which I could be of some use.

For now though, travelling through the forest was good for me. I had cleared my mind considerably, and felt better than I had done in the past few weeks.

'Avalon my dear! Breakfast is ready!' Rolling my eyes, I pushed my way out of the teepee to the campfire. We were currently in a small clearing close to the edge of the forest, and it was Tryst's turn to prepare our food. He was a wonderful cook, but it didn't come as a huge shock to me after I'd noticed his proficiency in potion brewing.

'It looks... interesting.' I replied. I felt tempted to retract my earlier thought of him being a good cook. The food sitting in the bowl was a little grey.

Tryst sighed dramatically. 'The royals are so hard to please. At least taste my meager offerings before turning your nose up. I am doing the best I can with what little food I can find in the forest, and it's not easy you know.' There was an amused look on his face as he teased me.

I stuck my tongue out at him before picking up the bowl. I prodded at the grey substance with a spoon hesistantly, before trying some of it. Admittedly, it tasted much better than it had looked sitting there in the bowl. I gave Tryst a thumbs up as I continued eating my breakfast.

'Avalon, we're close to the edge of the forest, so I think it would be a good idea to activate your disguise today.'

I pondered the suggestion before nodding in agreement. In the parts of the woods we'd been travelling through, there were very few people other than the occasional bandit, so there had been no need for me to hide my true form. However, as we neared the edge of the forest, there was a greater likelihood of running into people, so Tryst's suggestion made sense. I finished off my food, before cleaning the dishes with a sweep of my hand. Then, I activated my disguise.

It had been a while since I'd used it, so the feeling of my ears becoming smaller and rounder, and feeling my face contort slightly was uncomfortable to begin with. After a few minutes though, I got used to my old face again.

Tryst was just staring on in amazement. 'It's an incredibly effective transformation. And may I say that you look almost as beautiful in this form than you do your normal one.' He gave me a wink. 'However, I have to say that I miss the ears.' He finished with a smirk on this face.

I playfully swatted his arm before dismantling the teepee with my magic, and handing the sticks and canvas over to Tryst to store in his bag.

'Right, come on. We'd better be off.' I said, hoisting my satchel over my shoulder, before setting off towards the edge of the forest.

'Yes Ma'am!' Tryst mock saluted before trudging after me.

We walked on for an hour or two, casually conversing, before we reached the point where the trees stopped. Peering down, I looked into a valley, with a small stream running through it.

'If I'm not mistaken, that stream will lead us to Camelot. It's just a matter of walking along the valley now.' Tryst said from behind me. I turned around to see his face completely obscured by the map. Which he was holding the wrong way up.

Concentrating on the stream, I used a little bit of clairvoyance magic, which showed me the path the stream took.

'This way Avalon!' Tryst exclaimed, as he promptly started walking in the wrong direction. Sighing, I grabbed the collar of his ridiculous coat and hauled him around to face the right way.

'You were holding the map the wrong way up, Tryst.' I explained, beginning to walk again.

'Ah well, an easy mistake to make, especially when I'm so distracted by your dazzling beauty.' I shot him a glare, and he just started chuckling as he followed my lead.

A glint of metal in the corner of my eye caught my attention, so I quickly ducked behind a bush so that I could get a better view down the valley whilst staying hidden. However, Tryst didn't seem to realise what was going on as he loudly asked me what I was doing. Then, another voice reached my ears.

'Avalon? Is it you?!' I peered around the bush to see a pair of legs and I followed them up to see their owners face. I was met with a mop of curly hair.

'Sir Leon?!'

'Avalon! Why didn't you tell me that you knew a hot knight!' Tryst whined from beside me.

'This isn't the time Tryst! And for your information, I know more knights than just Leon!' Tryst just gaped a little at me. Then I heard a slight cough from Leon.

'Er, Avie? What are you doing around here? And who's this? I thought you were travelling with Merlin.' Leon asked me.

'I was.' I said with a sigh. 'It's a bit of a long story.'

'Avalon, who's Merlin? More importantly who is this man? COULD SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON TO ME PLEASE.' Tryst wailed, looking close to tears.

Well this was going to be so much fun.

I hope you enjoyed the chapter! I love writing about Tryst, he's such a fun character. I'm also very excited to have Leon in the story now. Things are going to be very interesting between these three! I'm sorry that it took a while to update, but I've been very busy as I've started school again, and I just haven't had any free time. Anyway, if you liked the chapter please give a vote, and if there are any other characters you'd like to see again, let me know in the comments and I'll what I can do! Thank you for reading <3
