three years seven months
and seventeen days ago,
i knew you were the home
my heart had always longed for,
that every empty promise
would be filled in maybe
not the way i expected
but the way i needed.
three years seven months
and seventeen days ago,
i learned you had a smile
that i vowed to never be the cause of its faulter,
and that when it did not meet your eyes
i would listen as to why.
three years seven months
and seventeen days ago,
i was so enamored by the freckles
that sprinkled your skin,
i could have sat and counted them all,
and so awed by the way you said my name
i could have listened forever.
three years seven months
and seventeen days ago,
i faced the greatest fear
i had ever known,
and fell in love with you.
