It was all too soon that Jace's beat up, white Subaru, pulled up in front of the house. It was about the same as every other house on the block, tiled roof, two stories, and cream paneling on the side. The only real differences was the toilet paper in the tree and the smashed window on the second floor that had been sloppily repaired with duct tape and cardboard. Jace exited the car and pinched the bridge of his nose when he saw the toilet paper littered tree.
"Fucking freshmen are going to be the death of me, sorry about my language, but even after Alice moved out and a cop lives here they still vandalize the property!"
"Wh-who's 'they'?" Gregomy was lost
Jace was shocked, "Do you not go to school or something?" Gregomy nodded, "So you know nothing about the college rivalries? The constant prank wars?" Jace was shocked, "dude, even after I dropped out I still knew everything about them!"
"I-I haven't been to school for years..." Gregomy stuck his hands in his pockets trying not to think what it would be like living there if people constantly pranked them.
"Alright, then i better get you catched up, let's see if i can explain in under a minute!" Jace pulled out his phone and pulled up the timer, he inhaled and hit start. "There's a rivalry between the two colleges, the Knights and the Wolves, this has been spanning on for decades, they have been targeting this house since the student president, Alice Presley, used to live here." he paused to breathe, "Alice moved out, sick of the harassment from the Wolves. Now the Knights aren't that perfect either, last week they stole the school mascot outfit and switched it out for a fursuit." the timer was at 30 seconds. "That was a hilarious football game when the poor new mascot guy walked out in a wolf costume with purple fur and green accents. Anyways I've tried to get the higher ups in the police force to arrest the kids who are taking it to far and doing things like breaking windows," He gestured to the window, "But they keep saying I'm over reacting and it's just kids having fun." He hit stop on the timer and sighed, it was at 47 seconds.
"Hey you explained it in under a minute!" Gregomy didn't understand a lot of it like student presidents and what a fursuit was, but understood enough to know that it sucked that some people were damaging property.
"Yes, yes I did!" He brightened up and then ruined Gregomy's brief moment of forgetting why they were there, "Alright, let's show you around the house!"
Jace led Gregomy up to the door and kicked over the house mat to reveal where a key was probably supposed to be but wasn't.
"Sooooo does this mean no epic tour and I should start walking home?" Gregomy asked hopefully.
"Nope! If the key is gone that means Josh is home and forgot to put it back like usual!" Josh knocked on the door, a voice called back in response
"Duuuude come back with a warrant," the person behind the door laughed at his own joke. Jace rolled his eyes,
"OPEN THE DOOR OR I BREAK IT DOWN AND YOU GET TO PAY FOR A NEW ONE!" He knocked on the door so hard it seemed like it would snap off its hinges. This would've scared Gregomy if it weren't for how much anxiety he was feeling. Ok I'm about to meet my new roommate... I hope they don't hate me... before Jace had even finished knocked a pale redhead opened the door, he was skinny and was wearing a black t shirt and jeans that were 3 sizes too big. This must be Josh, Thank lord it wasn't that Josh!
"Where's Josh, Marvin?"
"Jeez no hello?" Jace was unamused, "Fine dude, just don't make me buy another door, Josh is out back smoking." Marvin turned away but then turned back and did a double take. A sly grin spread across his freckled face
"Ohhh I see~ You finally get a boyfriend, Jacey?" He examined Gregomy like he was some rare species. Gregomy's face burned with embarrassment.
"B-boyfriend?"
"Yeaaaahhhh," he turned his attention back to Jace, " 'bout time you got laid!" He patted Jace on the shoulder before fleeing out back to where Josh supposedly was.
"He knows I'm ace so why can't he just lay off!" Jace mumbled to himself, his face was bright red. Note to self, google what 'ace' means.
"S-so um a-am i supposed to meet Josh?" Gregomy tried to change the subject off of boyfriends.
"O-oh yeah," He looked grateful for the change of topics, he glanced at the back door, "How about we meet Raspberry instead? She's usually here around this time."
"Sure." Gregomy was glad to avoid Marvin and followed Jace up the stairs to a long hallway with three doors, one was open and led to a bathroom. The one at the end was opened slightly and emanated a smell of weed and alcohol. Jace walked up to a door opposite to where the bathroom was and knocked, thankfully no snarky remark followed and the door was opened. The girl had short wavy hair and bangs that covered her eyes, a strip of the bangs was dyed a dark shade of red. She was chewing gum and waited patiently for Jace to talk.
"Sup, Raspberry, I'm not interrupting anything am I?" She shook her head her hair swishing against her bronze skin.
"Neat, this is Gregomy, he's gonna be our new roommate." She frowned slightly
"Don't worry he's not like Josh and his gang." Gregomy had no idea how jace could hold up a conversation with her, Is she mute? Gregomy then got his answer.
"Good! I swear if he brings another one of his buddies around to be his wingman as he flirts with me I will break his acne covered face!" She tapped her foot angrily, she took a deep breath and calmed from her rant. "Well Gregomy, I hope you enjoy living here even if that jerk lives here." She turned away and shut the door.
"Well that's the most I've heard her talk all week!" Jace laughed a bit, "Guess there's nothing better to get Raspberry talking then her hate for Josh!"
"Heh yeah.... Hey why do you guys live here if you all hate Josh so much? And can't you just like majority rules kick him out?" Gregomy was confused why they all put up with him.
"Well, we would, but his dad owns the building and he wouldn't tolerate his kid getting kicked out. And we both would move but the price for living here is cheap. Josh's dad gives him a discount on the bills so really it's just paying for damages that happen." Jace sighed, "Anyways It's time you met Josh..."
Jace hesitated before opening the sliding glass door to the small patio area behind the house, "Don't let how Josh is sway you from wanting to live here... he's usually out partying or at his classes... we just got unlucky and came at a time where he was here and with his friend.." He waited for Gregomy to respond.
"I'll try not to let it influence my decision." Gregomy's palms were sweaty and he feared what was behind the door.
Jace pushed open the door and led out Gregomy. And sitting in a old lawn chair smoking a blunt was Gregomy's worst nightmare. Josh stared at Gregomy while Jace introduced him. Josh cut him off,
"No need for introductions, Jace." He stood up. Gregomy froze,
It was the Josh that bullied him out of school when he was eleven.
Ah don't you just love a cliffhanger from a writer with no schedule? >:)
Hopefully I'll get the next chapter out in this next week!
