I went back and tried completing Mettatons colour tile maze, which is actually possible. I kept going back through the maze until I won. Also no matter what you still have that small fight with Mettaton.
What happens if you don't step on any green tiles:
So on one of my trials, I decided to wait and see what would happen if I didn't go on the maze at all. Mettaton will say the same thing about stepping on green tiles and then out of nowhere he says something along the lines of "Wait a second, you didn't step on any green tiles." Then he just says something like it doesn't matter and cuts straight to the little fight.
What happens if you complete the maze:
On one of my later trials, I completed the maze. I was actually so happy about this small accomplishment and at the end, confetti rained down on Frisk while Mettaton was clapping. He said congratulations but then converted to the conversation about green tiles and entered the fight.
What happens if you call Papyrus after completing the maze:
So I was really happy about completing the maze and called Papyrus (like any human would do in this situation) and he commented on my amazing skills of completing the maze. He was proud that I finished and was saying that he's so glad that I remembered his explanation about the colour tile maze.

Secrets I Found in Undertale
RandomOf course these aren't secrets for everybody but I thought that I'd share things that I discovered on my own while playing Undertale. So far I haven't found much related to Gaster so probably nothing about him will be mentioned.
