Prolog

It's been a while since the last wave passed the world – our shield hero Naofumi Iwatani stayed there ever since. He could have returned to his actual world and origin, but after all, he stayed. Even though Raphtalia, Filo, Raph-Chan and co. would have accepted it, he decided not to leave the world, that left him betrayed, poor and alone. All because of his party members, his friends. There where still so many memories, both bad and good ones, that kept him connected to this place. Going through all the suffering, that made him to the one he is now, yet made him grow to this place. His roots go deep with this place. But there was one more reason for him to stay. A question he asked himself way too often, "What will happen to them?"

He knew the best that his friends are strong enough to take care of themselves, but he still felt the instinct to be there to protect them. After all, he is still the shield hero, the legendary fighter that has risen out of all the doubts and hate to become the savior of this world. This action gave him a lot more appreciation and respect than ever.

Now, that almost 8 years have passed, Naofumi and his Teammates went back to Rock Valley. It's been a while and now, Raphtalia starts acting weird towards him.

The 27 year old man still can't tell what's up with her. He knew already that she kind of liked him more than just a friend or maybe a father. Raphtalia is also a grown woman now. After so much time with her, Naofumi started to think.

She is not the little slave anymore that he once raised. He used to think about her like a father did. He still kind of does. Now there aren't any waves of destruction to come, they have plenty of time to spend together. This time will be used as an opportunity to get to know her better, what she wants, what Naofumi wants, and what both want.
