After Tale - Chapter 1

Chapter 1 – The Birthday

„Naofumi-Sama, wake up. It's morning already." A soft voice was talking, a hand trying to wake the hero of the shield by pressing against his shoulder. The man opened his eyes with a tired blinking and raised up from his bed.

"Ah...Raphtalia, why did you wake me up? You know I can stand up myself early enough" he said with a big yawn. "I made breakfast already. So, before it gets cold nor Filo is going to eat all up, I thought I could just wake you up." Raphtalia gave him a worried look. "Didn't you sleep well last night?" she asked.

"Indeed." Naofumi answered. "But it's nothing to worry about. Probably the full moon." , he continued.

"Master!!" a quirky voice came from outside the house. Just a second after, Filo came inside and jumping on his belly.

"Urgh! FILO!" He was still out of energy, so he couldn't stand how energic Filo was so early in the morning."Filo wants to eat already! Rishia Onee-Chan even baked a cake!" she wiggled around with her wings joyously. In thoughts, Naofumi asked himself why Rishia baked a cake for breakfast. He put Filo down and stood up. "Yeah, I'm getting up. You two go ahead downstairs." His Hand went through Filo's hair shortly, she then stomped down the stairs. Raphtalia was still there. "What are you waiting for?" Naofumi asked with an annoyed tone in his voice. He didn't mean to be that harsh, really.

It seemed like Raphtalia was hoping for something. They both stared at each other in silence. Then, he stepped towards her and put his hand on her head too. "I know it's your birthday, Raphtalia, I did not forget that. But you can't expect of me to instantly remember it after just waking up."

She looked down on the floor. "I'm sorry if I bothered you, Naofumi-sama..." "You didn't bothered me. I'm just tired, that's all. I'll make sure we will celebrate together, okay?"

"Okay!" She enjoyed the head pat just a few more seconds and then went downstairs. Now then, Naofumi started getting nervous. "She is getting 18 today, isn't she?" he talked to himself. He promised her something a while ago for her 18th birthday. Not a present, something way more of value and importance.

He took a deep breath.

"Still got to get a present for her.", he thought and then went downstairs to start in this very special day.
