Chapter 6

ROSES’ POV
“Rose, wake up”, I hear a voice said.
I got up. It was still dark. I still didn’t know why I had to cover my eyes for this long, it’s been 2 months. “Hey Rose, how are you feeling?”, the doctor asked as I try to sit myself straight. “I think I’m doing fine, my feet, I can feel them and my head doesn’t hurt anymore so I guess it’s a good sign right?”, I stated. “Yes indeed. And you can now open your blindfold”, the doctor said. I nod, and excitedly but delicately opened the patches that covered my eyes. I was shock by the bright day light, but I blink a few times then I got used to it. To my surprise Una was there. She looked happy, but she’s crying and covering her mouth. “What’s wrong?”, I asked her. “You just… I missed you”, she said and went to me for a hug with tears in her eyes. The doctor checked my eyes for a while then asked if I needed anything. I looked around the room then realized something. “Where is Andrew?”, I asked. Both Una and the doctor seem to not know what to say. “I’ll let you guys discuss this over”, he said then left the room. I looked to Una, she was avoiding having eye contact. “Una… Where’s Andrew?”, I asked again. “Rose”, she said looking at me with tears in her eyes. “Andrew…. He’s gone”, she said. “What do you mean lost”, I didn’t quite understand what she meant. “He passed”, she said this time with her head down. “What?”, I mumbled. I started breathing heavily. “How come?”, I asked. “You, actually needed a pair of eyes due to the accident. There was no one to donate. So Andrew took the chance”, she said. Tears started coming out of my eyes. “These eyes, they’re Andrew’s?”, I asked. Una just nods. “No”, I said with more tears coming out. “I’m sorry”, Una said and went to me for a hug. Una then got up and took something out of her bag. “He left you a letter, he wrote on top to give it to you once you wake up”, she handed the letter then left the room so I can read it all to myself.

Rose, if you’re reading this then it surely means I actually did it. I killed myself. I have to tell you, I was sort of satisfied that I can actually do it cause I’ve been wanting to do so. But now, I’ve got more reasons why I should do it. I’m sorry for lying to you, it wasn’t my intention, I wanted you to feel more at ease. I’m sorry for the wrongs I have done. I planned so much for us, but seemed like it didn’t go as planned. This holiday or run away wasn’t as fun as in the movies. But I hope you did enjoy a few bit of it. Remember our promise? I hope you get a better man than me. Someone you know for long and will love you. Cause you deserve so. I’ve put in my money in your bank account so I hope you run away from your dad too. I wish I could have more time with you. I’m sorry.

After a week, I was finally allowed to leave the hospital. And Una and I decided to go and visit the cemetery. We passed by a few tombstones till we reached the one. We were there for a good 30 minutes then got back in the car. “You okay?”, Una asked me. “I will be”, I smiled at her. She smiled back and started the car. I flipped the sun shield to cover the sun, then a piece of paper fall out. I picked it up and read it.

Tears rolled down my cheek as I read Andrew’s plan for the holiday we had. “You alright Rose?”, Una asked while driving. I let out a long breath, “Never better” .
