scarlet envy ➵ chapter 7

"miss nina west and miss yvie oddly, please report to miss visages office!" a monotone voice came from the speakers.

nina was terrified. every little wrong move that she'd ever done in her life was racing through her head and she found it hard to breathe. maybe it was the lunch time incident? or what happened in sewing?

"chill, it's gonna be fine," yvie said.

yvie was extremely calm. in her old school, she was always in trouble. whether it be for skipping classes or not doing homework or starting fights, yvie oddly was known for her bad behaviour. in fact, she was surprised they even let her into this prestigious school, but she knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity which she didn't want to mess up.

the door swung open and michelle visage stood there, stern face and glasses too big for her.

"girls," she said, her tone matching her facial expression. "come in."

yvie walked straight in confidently and sat down, where as nina had her head held low, not even noticing the brown haired girl sitting in the office.

"your not in trouble girls, don't worry," michelle said, and nina let out a breath she'd been holding. "this is scarlet envy. she is a new student, and was transferred late after they'd brought the wrong girl. we have no spare dorms, and since yours is the biggest, we were wondering if you would share? we'd bring in another bed, of course."

"yeah, i'm fine with that!" nina said nicely. "are you okay with that yvie?"

yvie couldn't get her words out. she thought the girl sat in front of her was gorgeous. she had short, brown hair just going past her shoulders and blue, twinkling eyes. she'd never taken any interest in anyone before, but this girl was beautiful. she didn't even wear any makeup: her naturally clear skin looked perfect without any layers of foundation.

"yvie?"

"oh, uh yeah! yeah completely fine!"

"well great! you girls show her to your dorm, you have all day to get to know eachother!"

it was a saturday, so classes didn't start until monday. nina talked the whole way there, whilst yvie was preoccupied with staring at scarlet. she had noticed a lot about her: she was an only child, two mums and she was here on a hair and beauty scholarship. they arrived at their dorm, to find a third bed placed in the middle of the room.

"i'm gonna go get brooke lynn, you two stay here!" nina said excitedly, before skipping out of the room.

"hey," scarlet said nicely.

"hey,"

"you shy?"

"not usually, just having an off day. brooke lynns the shy one, she'll be here soon." this, of course, was incorrect. scarlet made yvie shy, which was something that never happened. yvie always had a point to make or an opinion to share.

"so... nina mentioned something about drama before we got here?"

"ugh, yeah. these three girls called ariel, rajah and vanessa. well, vanessa isn't really involved. she's brooke's room mate, and she is always sticking up for her. i don't have anything against vanessa, but the other two just want to start arguments." yvie explained everything that had happened up until now.

"wow," scarlet said quietly. "bit of a shit situation."

"yeah."

the door swung open and brooke entered, a blush spread across her cheeks as nina giggled next to her.

"scarlet, this is brooke lynn hytes. brooke, this is scarlet envy."

brooke said "hi" shyly and scarlet smiled sympathetically. she wasn't the best at talking to people, so she completely understood brooke's situation.

"brooke's got a crushhhh!" nina teased and the blush grew on her cheeks.

"fuck off!" brooke said playfully.

"you know the girl that she shares a dorm with? vanessa mateo? she hasn't stopped going on about her. and, when they said goodbye, even vanessa had heart eyes for her!"

"her names vanjie, and she's sweet and cute. she even ditched her friends for a movie night with me last night. we stayed up and talked about every conversation under the sun. family life, and friends and school. it was... great. really really great. and i think i like her!"

"awww, i'm so happy for you!" yvie said, and scarlet nodded, not really understanding the situation perfectly but knowing the general details of it.

the afternoon went on, and they all talked more. brooke and nina went down to get food, and nina was going to bring some back up to them whilst brooke was going to go back to her dorm.

yvie and scarlet talked amongst themselves. they talked about anything that came into their heads, and soon enough they had become comfortable around each other. yvie had began to wipe her makeup off.

"you are so lucky you don't have to wear makeup to cover up your skin. it's such a pain."

"hey," scarlet said, placing a hand on yvies arm. "you look beautiful with or without makeup." yvie blushed, much like brooke lynn had done previously when vanjie was mentioned.

the moment was over as soon as it happened, as nina came walking in with three pizza boxes. "who's hungry!" she shouted and sat down, sharing the boxes equally.

'enemies, best friends and even a crush,' yvie thought to herself 'it's going to be a very interesting year indeed!'
