Clary sat on her windowsill looking down at the courtyard, remembering the things she and Simon did when they were kids; going to kindergarten together, playing with Simon in her stepdad's farm.
She remembered hanging upside down on a tree beach once, Simon yelling for her to get down, and when she had refused, Simon had gone and called Luke, her stepdad to get her down.
They had gone to high school together. Spent time at each others' house playing Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). She'd gone out at night to hear Simon's band play. She remembered going to the Pandemonium Club with Simon, where she saw Jace for the first time, killing a blue-eyed, hot demon guy———
"Hey."
A voice at the door scattered her thoughts. She turned around to see Jace leaning against the doorframe, wearing a beige shirt and black tracks.
"Aren't you gonna sleep? It's almost twelve," he said, walking towards Clary who turned back to the window without a word. Jace sat down next to her, stroking her hair.
"What's wrong?" He searched for her face.
"Nothing." Jace could see that the smile on her face was forced.
"You know I can tell when you're lying, babe. Why do you even try? Please tell me."
"I don't know, Jace." Clary sighed. "It seems as if everyone's moving away from me day by day. As if they don't love me anymore. First mom and Luke, then Simon, and now you."
Jace barely heard what she said at last. His worried expression turned to shock the moment those words left her lips.
"Simon doesn't talk much because he's catching up with Izzy for all the lost time. And—— and did you know that Jocelyn calls the institute at least once a day to check on you and reminds me how she would torture me to death if I ever hurt you?" A smile played on Clary's lips as faced Jace.
"I—— I didn't know," she stuttered. "What about about you? Do you still love me?" Jace felt as if Clary had slapped him hard across the face.
"Babe," he said. " What makes you think that I would ever stop loving you?" His voice was gentle, and when Clary said nothing, he said,
"The second I saw you at the Pandemonium Club, my whole world changed. I didn't know you were a shadowhunter at first, but I knew you saw me even though I was wearing a glamour rune. Later, when Valentine told me that you were my sister, a part of me died. And even though I knew it was awkward and gross since we were brother and sister, I wanted to kiss every minute of every hour of every day. That's the reason why I didn't want to take you to Idris. So that I could hook up with Aline Penhallow and finally forget about you, but it didn't work. And when we found out we weren't brother and sister, I felt like I had everything I've ever wanted. I love you, Clary, and I will love you until I die, and if there's life after that, I'd love you then and———"
Whatever Jace was going to say after that was muffled by Clary's lips on his. He forgot what he was going to say next and kissed her back, gently. Clary pulled back, abruptly, to say, "Come on, Jace. You can do better than that."
"I can do better, huh?" He stood up in a flash, backing her up against the wall and put his hands on it on either side of her face.
When he kissed her, it was fierce and aggressive. His hands slid under her white tank top and fondled her breasts before he knelt down in front of her. He placed a kiss on her navel before moving his hands to the front of her jeans.
"Is this alright?" He asked, playing with her jeans button.
The second Clary nodded, the button popped free and Jace pulled her jeans down and let her step out of them. Clary took off her tank top and wrapped her legs around Jace as they kissed their way towards her bed.
Jace dropped her on the bed with a small thud before taking off his shirt. Bending down over her, he nipped at her lower lip, gently, making her gasp.
His lips moved along her jaw, past her throat to her shoulder where there was a white star shaped mark. He kissed it and then his lips were back on hers. Clary shuddered as his fingers brushed against the inside of her thighs.
"Do you want to do this?" He asked.
"Yes," she replied. "I mean, if you want to."
"Babe, can't you tell?" Clary started taking off his tracks———
A knock at the door stopped her in her tracks.
"Ignore it," Jace whispered before adding, "They'll eventually think no one's in here and leave." When Clary went back to removing his tracks, they heard the knock again, louder than earlier.
"I'll get it." Jace jumped out of bed, annoyed and crossed the room to get the door.
Simon stood outside the door, dumbstruck. His eyes widened and his mouth fell open when he saw a shirtless Jace staring at him in anger.
"What?" He snapped. "Haven't you seen me shirtless before?" Simon was speechless. "Can't you see we're busy? Look, if you're here to talk to Clary, she not interested in whatever you want to say to her. So, go fuck yourself, vampire."
Simon put his hand on the door before Jace could shut it.
"Wait," he said. "I need to talk to Clary. It's really important."
"Jace, who is it?" Clary called from inside. Jace turned around and said, "It's Simon the cockblocker," and she was suddenly at the door next to him, wearing a purple robe.
"Were you with Izzy all this time?" She asked.
"Yeah. We were talking——"
"Talking?" Jace interrupted. "Alec told me that the two of you were having sex."
"I see you've been doing the same thing." Simon eyed him, with disgust. "I did not come here to talk about your love life. I came to tell something to my best friend."
"What is it?" Clary asked, confused.
"Can I come in?"
Simon sat on the arm chair near the bed as Jace sat next to Clary on the bed. Simon fiddled with his fingers before saying, "We're going to Idris tomorrow."
"You've got to be kidding me," Jace said.
"I'm serious. Clary do you remember that I once told you I wanted to become a shadowhunter one day, and then become you're Parabatai?" Clary nodded. "I wasn't kidding. Izzy and Maryse helped me send a fire message to the clave. They agreed and we're leaving tomorrow at eight."
"What, really?" Clary said, hugging Simon.
"This better not be a lie, vampire. Otherwise, I'm going to make you suffer and then drown you in lake Lyn when we go to Idris."
"Okay. See you guys tomorrow," Simon said, getting up from the chair. "Oh, and um.... sorry for interrupting whatever you two were doing. You should probably lock the door before getting started."
He winked at Clary before shutting the door behind him. Jace pushed Clary onto the bed and leaned over her.
"Do you still want me to fuck your brains out?" Jace grinned, wickedly.
"Absolutely."
