While We Burned

OVERDALE ~the hazmat man~

The fire was on high. And the flames were still shooting out of the gun that the man wearing the white hazmat suit was holding, trigger still pulled. The man didn't know what the people in the lab were looking for, why they were doing these contained forest fire test. 

The man has heard rumors around the lab, that somewhere in these woods, there is a treasure buried 132 feet under the ground, and the spot where it is buried will not burn, due to the metal trap door hidden above the treasure. The trap door is covered by leave and dirt, unable to be seen from the naked eye. The man turned around, but he has covered the forest at least half a mile away from the lab. He let go of the trigger. The fire couldn't go beyond the yellow tape lines tied around the perimeter trees. If the fire went beyond the lines, it wouldn't be contained. 

Soon, the whole area was engulfed in flames, flames were dancing around the man as he walked through the fire, looking for any spots that were not burning. He didn't see any. He turned back around, and right in front of him was what looked like a girl, covered in flames. He examined her, right as he felt a sharp pain in his stomach. 

He looked down, and his white hazmat suit was stained red, and there in his stomach, was a screwdriver. The girl released her grip on the tool right as the man fell to the ground, unconscious.

When he came to, there were trucks and lab cars around him, above him a lady was holding a camera. He sat up and looked around, behind him was a news truck. The lady with the camera was a news anchor. And the person standing in front of the camera was talking about how they had caught a girl and found the man unconscious while the fire was burning. Luckily, it was put out, before it melted the man's suit all the way of. The man looked down at his stomach, his hazmat suit was pulled off, and his undergarments were stained red. His lifted up his shirt to see the wound, it was wrapped. No wonder he felt no pain, at least, not yet. 

The girl that stabbed him was captured and was put into a cell in the lab, they called her 257. No one knew where she came from, no one knew if she was human or not, and no one knew what she came here to do. But the hazmat man knew what she came here to do. She came here to kill.
