Chapter One  –Quidditch Career

*Katie Bell*

“Quidditch, Professor” I blurted out, glancing into McGonagall’s fierce eyes. I sat down and then took in the surroundings of my head of house’s office “Quidditch?” she snapped her nostrils flaring. “Well yes, Quidditch that’s what I want to do” I grinned, feeling a warm feeling take over me at the thought of having a Quidditch career.

This career talk was something that everyone in my year had to go through yet again this year. “Miss Bell, you could do much more than Quidditch, your grades are of a good level... lets see” she flicked through the paper marked Katie Bell on her desk...

The best part of the Quidditch season started next week the important matches were coming up surely we could beat Davies and his Ravenclaw side “you could consider herbology” McGonagall suggested . But the trouble was we needed to get a new beater and even a new keeper… “ you would be a good medi witch, St Mungo's offer a great training scheme” I nodded thinking about talking to Harry, how would be the best way to persuade him that Ron just wasn’t up to the level we needed for a keeper.

“So Miss Bell, what do you think about those options?” I know Ron was Harry's best friend but he really needed to work on ensuring that he didn’t let in as many quaffles as he did last match. “I reckon maybe I could try national level first?” I smiled happily; wouldn’t it be great to play for a team like the Holyhead Harpies or Puddlemere United? “What?” professor snapped back at me

*Minerva McGonagall*

I looked down into the brown eyes of one of my students and was reminded of a previous student, a favourite of mine. Who was also very passionate about Quidditch? Oliver Wood had told me that Quidditch was the only thing he wanted to do and had ignored every other option I had suggested. Yes he had a strong desire to follow a Quidditch career rather like Miss Katie Bell who sat in front of me did. He had been successful admittedly but it was important that Miss Bell didn’t get her hopes up too high.

“I could try out for a national team at first, students have done well previously and if we win the cup it would show them I have potential which is a good thing right?” she babbled on. “Miss Bell it’s a highly competive career path, very few will make it.”

“But it isn’t impossible” Katie grinned as she picked at the grass on her jumper. Eager to return to Mr Potter’s next training session I assumed, “nothing is impossible Miss Bell but you should always consider a more academic back up in case it doesn’t work out” I nodded.

“Yes, thanks Professor” she got up from her seat, smiled and walked out. I sighed really she hadn’t listened to any of my advice, maybe she would make it after all she had the steely determination needed and was one of the best chasers Gryffindor had seen in years.

Thanks for Reading I hope you enjoyed it, please review if you want to. The next chapter focuses on the dynamics of the Quidditch team under Harry's captaincy and yes Lavender makes a early appearance I just couldn’t resist!!
