Chapter Two - Outbursts at Practise
*Katie Bell*
“Katie” a distant male voice called at me from the middle of the pitch. “Katie Bell listen!!!” this time a loud female voice echoed around the pitch and hit me solidly.
“Oh sorry” I diverted my gaze back to a mass of ginger hair. Standing next to Harry Potter; the new captain this year, was a very annoyed looking Ginny Weasley.
Right now that everyone is listening” Ginny emphasised her words as she glared at me. I looked back at Harry who was shifting uncomfortably; He really found this captaincy authoritve role hard. “Right, thanks Ginny so now everyone’s here and listening. I wanted to say that this season is going to be a tough one. But I think we could be successful if we all focus more. Now i'm not going to demand early training sessions or practice in the rain all the time like Wood did…”
“Wood”. The truth is I hadn’t seen or spoken to him for months since he left, but that mention of his name brought back old feelings to the surface that I’d forced away for several years. They weren’t practical or realistic.
“KATIE!!” Ginny yelled at me aggressively “Oh Merlin, I’m sorry honestly” I forced a smile, Harry nodded at me “its ok Katie, but I need you to focus hard this year, it’s an important one. Now we want to win the cup right? But the thing is the last training session was awful and the match against Hufflepuff wasn’t good enough none of you played good enough! We could have easily won if you worked harder and trained longer. Tactically I think the best thing we could do would to be …” Harry's voice faded into the background as I glanced up at the stands.
I was never normally so distracted like this. I was focused, determined, but what was Oliver Wood doing in the stands watching? It just didn’t make sense. I tilted my head and stood on tip toes to get a better view. His brown hair caught the sunlight as he pulled the corner of his jumper up against the cold. My feet moved beneath me as I headed over towards him…
“HONESTLY!!” Ginny yelled, I jumped and turned back... I gulped Ginny Weasley really wasn’t someone you wanted to upset too many times. However I saw this time that I wasn’t the cause of Ginny’s annoyance “WON WON” Lavender panted as she ran across the pitch and flung her arms around Ron Weasley's neck . “Can’t you keep your girlfriend off the pitch while we train?!” Snapped Ginny. “I didn’t...urm know she was coming.” Ron stuttered, turning bright red.
“Won, Won, you look lovely, you are the best keeper” Lavender gushed at him as she fluttered her eyelashes. Wait a moment, the best keeper that was Oliver everyone agreed. I thought that was Oliver that was definitely Oliver. I pushed the hair out of my eyes along with that thought, I needed to concentrate.
“Lavender he won’t be if he doesn’t train and at the moment he’s bloody awful” Harry snapped. Lavender frowned, Ron hit harry “thanks a bunch, I’ll do you a favour and quit shall I?” Ron threw his helmet on the ground and stormed off the pitch, followed by whimpering Lavender. Everyone gasped it was normal for Ron to lose his temper like that but Harry was always encouraging Ron not snapping at him like that. “Great!” Harry moaned. I froze. Wood was walking across the pitch “Is there a problem?” Oliver asked in his Scottish tone.
I diverted my eyes between Harry and Oliver “training isn’t going great Oliver. Ron brings his girlfriend then storms off so now I don’t have a keeper. Cormac won’t shut up, we don’t have decent beaters and Katie never pays attention!!” he yelled.
