And to say again, that one day ago my life was perfect. That's right, thinking about it all was good. I had my friends, my family, good results at school that were the pride of my parents, and most of all I had the comfort.
I had been looking the ceiling for the fifth time since we were lying down. I could not sleep. The rain kept falling, knocking the roof of the huts of the little cabin where we were.
I blew a moment, before straightening up.
The shack - which actually contained only one room - was plunged into total darkness. I could not see anything, not even the window we had seen in the early afternoon.
A day. Already.Flashback:
Saturday, July 22nd.
Tonight I was invited to a party with my childhood friends. We celebrated the eighteen years of Marlene, a long-time friend. My band and hers were to meet at home at eight o'clock.
As usual, Amy was already at my home. We had known each other since we were in sixth grade. And before every evening we did, we had set up a ritual, we always prepared together.
While she was taking a shower, I ran through my closet to put on my pretty little black dress, which was just above my knees. My father had offered it to me for my seventeen years."By the way, Zayn will be here tonight." Amy said as she came out of the shower.
Zayn was her boyfriend, well it was more complicated than that. I often had a tendency to lose myself. They separated about three times a week. But hey, we knew Amy well, she is unstable as a girl on a sentimental level. Finally, only in love. Because in friendship, she is totally different. Amy is my best friend since we were eleven years old. She is of an infallible loyalty! Girls like them are rare nowadays.
"Oh!" I sighed. "And that's a good thing?"
"I do not know. The last time we spoke it was Thursday."
I turned to her. They had separated again. It had been more than a year since their story had begun. Frankly, I admired my friend. I don't know how she was doing to support this kind of relationship. In its place, I would have ended long ago. And then, it's not like Amy was not gorgeous. It's true, if she was not madly in love with this boy, she could live a beautiful love affair with Liam; who has loved her for more than four years. Except that there is a problem - otherwise it would be too good and especially unrealistic. Indeed, Liam is no other than a friend in our band. And this is without a doubt my closest male friend. The same, we've been friends since we were eleven years old. Basically, it was Amy, him and me. Then it is then added to us - in the college - the best-friends Louis and Niall.
His best friend, Niall and I are the only ones to know that he is pinching for Amy. I do not know how she does it for not realizing it. Every time she's here, he looks at her as if he's never seen anything so beautiful. At the same time, she is beautiful. But the worry is that she feels no feelings for him. So, it makes me unhappy to see him suffer. He's gotten drunk since she's been around Zayn. He is more and more likely to come off our band, and that worries me. I know him well, he is capable of the worst as of the best."Are not you together?" I asked, styling myself.
"No. I think it's better that way."
I stared at it. She looked so serious. Except that I knew that as soon as she saw him again, she would pinch for him again.
"What?" She smiled as she slipped on her black tights.
"You lie Amy!" I sighed.
"By the way, do you know if Liam is coming tonight?"
"I do not know." I admitted, shrugging. "He did not answer my calls."
End of flashback:
"Can you push yourself a little, please Niall?" sighed Liam.
Despite the darkness, I smiled. I recognized him well. A real pot of glue this one. But we liked him for that.
The so-called glue pot heaved a long sigh."But I'm cold."
"So what?" retorted Liam. "Until now, I do not think I'm a radiator!"
I heard Amy laughing. She was lying next to me, and I could feel her moving. She was on her back.
"Strip of kids, you woke me up!" She whispered.
"Sorry!" Liam apologized. "We did not want to."
"It does not matter!" She confessed in a soft voice.
A snoring pierced the room, making Amy and Niall laugh. I felt Liam cringe in the night. He was like me, he did not like darkness very much.
"Ah, apparently Louis is sleeping well!" Laughed Niall.
"Niall, we're talking about the biggest sleeper on the planet!" Amy said, laughing softly.
A laugh accompanied the reply of my friend. I recognized Liam's.
"So, what are we doing now?" She asked.
Good question. Especially when you end up in a shack, and you have neither the time nor the laptop, and especially no torch.
That's what happens when you get into a completely stupid challenge when you're drunk.
This is called a Perilous Challenge.
