A month had passed and that was all the Marauders needed. Five major pranks, fifteen small ones, and a bunch of picking on a boy called Severus Snape, the rumor of Frost–the fifth Marauder–had spread.
Queenie had informed her brother about the Marauders and what was happening over the past five years. She also told him some common theories about the fifth Marauder and who they might be.
The most common theory is that there was a shy boy in Ravenclaw who gave them prank ideas, but he never went with them out of fear. Another idea was they were secretly friends with a boy in Slytherin and didn't want anyone to know.
No one even thought that it might be a girl. Typical.
But at least everything was going to plan.
Everyone wanted to know who the so-called fifth Marauder is. And there were a few popular opinions.
The most popular one by far was that Severus Snape, the boy that Lily Evans hangs out with, is the fifth Marauder. This is because he is the most pranked person in the school, he hates the Marauders, the Marauders hate him, but it was really just a cover-up as he didn't want to be known to be hanging out with a group of Gryffindor's.
The second most popular was about Regulus Black, Sirius's little brother, was the fifth Marauder.
The boys always avoid each other in school. Hardly look at each other. Glare if their eyes meet. Look away quickly. Apparently, that means they are hiding something. The rumor is that Regulus was exactly like Sirius, but he gave himself an alternate personality so that it wasn't likely for him to be suspected.
Then it went onto the fact that it had to be a boy Marauder because girls aren't as strong or as smart as a boy can be and girls are frilly and prissy.
Not Queenie.
She hated that rumor, so she gave off her own little prank, signing it with the name Frost in fancy and curly writing with her symbol next to it. It was a snowflake with two icicles crossing it in an 'x' like fashion. Perfect for her nickname.
"Oi, Royals! Earth to Queenie!"
Queenie glared at Miya as she ruined her train of thought. She swallowed her sausage, keeping her eyes trained on her friend. Miya shuddered. Queenie sure could scare someone, even if they were friends.
"Who do you think the fifth Marauder is?" she asked.
Queenie rolled her eyes. Miya lived for gossip. Queenie was glad that she wasn't all boy crazy or make-up dependent like a lot of the girls here.
"For the last time. I. Don't. Know!" she said this all in a loud and slow voice, as if speaking to a child that took something that wasn't theirs. "And do not call me Royals."
"Why not?" Miya asked, unaware that she was about to break the ice she was oh so lightly treading on. And that was before she added, "Royals."
Queenie whipped a glare at her friend, leaving the brown haired girl to wince at the harshness of it. She tried to stare back, but she ended up looking down quickly. Something that rarely happened. Miya was always one to defy, but Queenie had always put her in her pace.
"You called me that numerous times over the years, and it has been grating down on my patience. Please, stop while you are ahead or I might do something regretful."
Miya winced as she ducked her head, muttering an apology. She never got why Queenie was so uptight about her nickname, even though it was something to be teased for. After all, how many people did you know were named Queenie Royals Kings?
Queenie pushed down her slight guilt. She was never one for emotions controlling her since she was young. It was also a reason she never pursued a 'boyfriend' like many other girls her age had. Then again, almost everyone in her year had dated Sirius Black at one point. Only Slytherin girls, some Hufflepuff who swore to never date until she was out of school, Lily Evans who was James Potter's crush, and herself had not dated Sirius Black.
"Sorry, Queens. I still don't understand why you hate that name. We've been friends for five years, so why won't you tell me why you don't like it?"
Queenie turned around, glaring at the floor. "You have no right to look into my personal business. Now if you don't mind, I want to spend some time alone."
With that, Queenie stormed off, leaving the brown haired girl to sigh in disappointment.
