Asriel Dreemurr walked alone to the throne room, ready to confront his brother and his violent law. For months now, the law called "Murder Spree" had been ignored by many citizens of the Underground. The king had grown furious and redacted their supplies, as well as forcing many monsters into a secluded arena to fight each other to the death. He had enough of this tyranny and his solution was to knock some sense into his stubborn brother.

He arrived at his destination and walked through, finding the king to be sitting at his massive throne. He could feel the fear just crawl throughout his entire body, his heart racing. He shook his head and walked closer, now directly in front of the king. "Chara, we need to talk." His voice was deep and brooding, almost to the point of intimidating. Of course, it had no effect on his brother.

Chara Dreemurr's gaze averted upward to see Asriel, a smirk forming from his lips as he stood up. He walked close to his beloved brother and hugged him. "It's a pleasure to see you again, Azzy." His voice was rough like gravel and light, not intimidating at all. It was just another one of those deceitful tones of voice. "How have you been?" He didn't even let him answer as he grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him to the door at the end of the room, letting him go through and reviewing a glass dome.

Underneath was a whole arena with two monsters currently sitting and doing nothing. They both looked so conflicted and didn't know what to do as weapons sat in their vicinity. "Isn't this sensational, brother? Monsters fighting each other to the death in order to enforce the new law, to prepare them for the surface once we're finally freed." Chara rambled on and on about how his new law would prepare the monsters for the "kill-or-be-killed" era the humans were always stuck in, even after the monsters were banished to Mt. Ebott. Of course, Asriel had different thoughts about his brother's "morals".

Asriel managed to take a few steps away from the glass dome and stared at his crazed brother, shaking his head with such disdain. "This isn't normal, it's not okay at all. Having monsters fight their own kind? To have them fight at all..?" Although he never dared to stand up to Chara, much more a king, he knew that this just wasn't something to easily dismiss without at least a few words. He took a few steps closer to Chara, unfazed by the look in said king's eyes.

"This is basic tyranny. You're not preparing them for anything or anyone. You're only driving them insane." His eyes were that of a guardian's, strong and piercing. He grabbed the king by his shirt and pulled him closer so they would be at equal eye level. "This was never okay. Father wouldn't have wanted this."

At the mention of their father, Chara pulled away as quickly as possible, his irises a cherry red. "Never mention Father nor his wishes in this new era. I understand that this state of our society has troubled you, but it's nothing for you to get your horns in a twist." He spat back at Asriel with a whole new venom in his voice, pulling out his own knife. He pointed it in the direction of the glass dome and said, "I am preparing them for the vulgar nature of humanity, for it was never pure to begin with! You never knew what it was like to live in humanity's clutches, you would never understand," he pointed the knife at Asriel, "so I suggest you keep your mouth shut about this law. After all, you're merely a prince. I expect no words to come out of you."

The goat prince felt hurt by his brother's words. He slowly removed the crown around his horns and stared at it almost solemnly. He knew he wouldn't be able to change the king's mind either way. He certainly didn't want to be a part of this society, especially with Chara and his devilish deeds being the ringleader of it all. ".. then I'd rather not be a prince of the monarchy you're leading. In fact," he threw the crown at the glass dome, leaving a large crack in it, "I'd rather not be a part of it at all."

"..." Chara remained silent, staring at the crack in shock as the ex-prince walked out. He walked to the dome and picked up the crown that was left, tracing his finger along the ridges. "Oh, Azzy.. why can't you just understand for once..?" He mumbled quietly before placing the headdress away on a nearby stand, hearing the fading footsteps and the closing of the Judgement Hall doors. He turned to face the dome and noticed that the two monsters hadn't begun the match. He sighed heavily as his irises turned back to the normal hazelnut brown color. "Well, what are you two waiting for?! Get on with it before I come down to show you a real battle!" He traced his knife along the cracks left in the glass, showing that this was a real threat. Soon, the two monsters began to fight..

As Asriel packed his belongings from his room in the Royal Home of the kingdom, he kept thinking of various places in the Underground he could possibly relocate to. Hotland would be too stuffy and brought back too many harsh memories.. Waterfall was quiet, but the air was too damp.. and Snowdin wasn't a perfect place, either. All in all, those three locations would soon be poisoned by the law. Then, he knew where to go.. the Ruins.

I'm finally publishing the series of DystopianTale (my AU) to Wattpad. It's been a while since I actually wrote a decent story, so here goes nothing.
By the way, here are the designs of Asriel and Chara:
