Μια φορά κι έναν καιρό..
Humans and monsters lived together in harmony. They played together, laughed together, even built families together. Nothing could ever break the happy souls of these beings. However, one fateful day, a rumor was being spread around the communities. The story of a monster consuming a human's soul and reigning terror over Canada began to circulate everywhere through the poor beings.
The humans had enough and decided that this wasn't going to happen anywhere else. Interracial families were forced to split, leaving many hybrid children to be abandoned on the streets, since the humans had no clue who they were to be with. Schools were rioted and although most of the human faculty and children were saved, many of the monsters that enrolled into the schools were left to die. Segregation began to play a part of this.
The humans began to grow more paranoid as the years passed and decided that this wasn't going to be enough. They waged war against the monster race.. and won. They had won this unnecessary war.
All the monsters were forced down into Mt. Ebott while the hybrid adults were sent to mental facilities to "cope with their losses". That wasn't the purpose at all, however, and the hybrids would soon find out.
Since then, the humans have lived peacefully on the surface, while monsters lived the best they could in the Underground..

"Get back here, you little wench!" A loud and scratchy female voice rang out throughout the neighborhood, alerting any and all members of it. "The kid's running away!" Yelled another voice. This was the fourth time this week that this specific kid had tried running away. They failed many times before this, but they believed they could keep running and maybe succeed.
As the members put together a search party in case the young one managed to get away, the first person (supposedly the guardian) to have alerted the others of this situation ran after them. "You little shit, get back here!" This only made the teen run faster. They could barely be seen at this point anymore, not even their trademark black and blue headband could be spotted.
Eventually, the guardian stopped running after them, panting heavily as she tried to catch her breath. "Fine then..! Run away, fucker! See how well you do out there in the wilderness, aye?!" She screamed one final time before turning in the opposite direction and walking back to the neighborhood.
The teen stopped running once they reached the base of the mountain. They sat down, back against a tree as they stared up at the sky. It was a mix of orange, yellow, and red since the sun was setting and it would be night soon. They closed their eyes and fell asleep..

They woke up to the yelling of a man, their mind now racing with the feeling of impending doom as they could only assume it was a search party's leader. They got up rather quickly, stumbling a little and trying to take a good look at their surroundings. They had forgotten to let the environment sink in earlier, so they had no clue where they were anymore.
It was dark and the moon was blocked by some grey clouds, a sign that it was going to rain soon. They opened their mouth to scream, but nothing came out. They fell to the ground on their hands and knees and crawled around, trying to find some sort of area that could prove worthy to hide in. The tears in their eyes only made their vision worse while they tried to sob, scream, speak..
But nobody could hear them.
Just then, they heard thunder and lightning struck a nearby tree, creating a huge light source. They looked up and got to their feet, finally observing the environment. It wasn't anything like daylight, but they could see a trail that led up to the opening of Mt. Ebott at the top. They held out their hands in case the light source would disappear anytime soon and walked to the trail, now following it to the top. Luckily, the lightning wasn't going to stop at all tonight, so the light source was sufficient.
As they walked on the trail, they began to think of how everything got to this point. It wasn't supposed to be like this, the system was supposed to protect the children in it. Finding out that this child was fifteen percent monster was what made the system deem them unworthy of a good home, wasn't it? That's how they ended up with an abusive foster mother, wasn't it? Surely it was never this child's fault..
When they felt the tears slipping down their cheeks, they stopped thinking about it. It never once crossed their mind to see how they were already inside the mountain. They kept walking, keeping their eyes on the ground. Once they decided to look up, they noticed the huge hole in front of them. They tripped over a nearby vine and fell into the hole, opening their mouth to scream for help, but of course, nothing came out. As they fell, they could only think about how they didn't want to die.. they just wanted to break free.
