On a cold winter night of 1940, Judy was preparing for a date with Robert Stack . He was was going to be taking her to a new nightclub called Ciro's. After Judy was all ready to go she received a call from Bobby saying , " I'm sorry Judy , but I won't be able to take you out tonight. I have the most terrible headache ." Judy politely told him , " It's ok Bobby. I hope you feel better." After hanging up the phone Judy moped around for a while. This was just her luck. She had a handsome date and he had to go and get sick. She stopped moping and decided to go to Ciro's stag. She got into her car and sped off to Tinseltown's new watering hole for Hollywood's elite. She arrived at Ciro's at 10:47 pm and stopped at the front door so valet could park her car . She entered Ciro's and bumped into a tall figure. Looking up at who she bumped into she was pleasantly surprised to see Jimmy Stewart , America's Everyman , looming above her. Jimmy looked down at a Judy and realizing she had no date , asked , " You came stag, too?" Judy nodded her head saying , " My date called and said he had a terrible headache." Jimmy said , " Well that's too bad . Hey , how's about you come with me?" Judy looked at him with her big brown , doe eyes , " You mean you want me to be your date?" Jimmy smiled at Judy , " Yeah.. How about it?" " Oh that sounds wonderful Jimmy," Judy said smiling as well. They linked arms and walked into the bustling nightclub. They took a seat at a empty table. From the corner of her eye Judy spotted a familiar blonde-haired girl. The blonde was none other that lovely sweater girl Lana Turner. Judy thoroughly examined Lana . Her blonde hair was curled and pinned up . She was wearing a tight blue dress that showed off some cleavage, similar to the red one she was was wearing. She turned her head to the side to see who Lana's date was. To her dismay it was Robert. She told Jimmy of her dilemma . He told to her keep calm and everything would be fine. Judy told Jimmy she wanted to go home. He walked her to the front door but on their way out Judy stopped at Bobby and Lana's table . She looked at Bobby and said , " I thought you had a terrible headache?" She walked away Jimmy right behind her. Robert got up to chase after her but Lana caught he is wrist and said , " I wouldn't if I were you . She's hoppin' mad right now." Robert sat down and sulked for the rest of the night while Lana smirked to herself. To others it may have seemed bitchy , but Lana was happy to keep Bobby away from Judy . She thought he wasn't right for such a perfect girl like Judy.
