+Note: Kiera, sorry if I don’t write from your POV very much, but it’s really hard to naturally write as you. Even if we do have a weird best friends psychic connection. As always, no proofreading and also i noticed i go back and forth between 1st and 2nd POV so oh well. Can't fix it now. Thanks to anyone reading this!
KIERA’S POV:
After all uncomfortably smashing into Woody’s equipment-filled van, I gave him the address to our flat.
“Actually, that’s only a few streets down from us.” I heard a voice that sounds like Kyle say from somewhere behind me. I tried to turn around to see him, but I was trapped in a weirdly contorted position between Maika and a large box full of sound equipment.
“Awesome.” I heard Maika mutter excitedly beside me. It made us both excstatic to know we were only a few blocks away from Bastille. Though we’ve only met them today, It feels as if we’ve known them for years.
A few short minutes pass, in a somewhat awkward silence when finally the van comes to a lurching stop. “And we’re here!” Woody calls out as he takes the keys out of the ignition and opens his door. He walks around the car and opens up the rear doors, and we all flood out the back, limbs stiff and muscles aching. I stretch my arms into the air, as Maika twists her torso around in an effort to crack her back--- a bad habit of hers. As Kyle, Woody, Dan and I all head to the front door Maika and Will get the bags out of the van.
MAIKA’S POV:
“Here, I’ll get those for you.” Will offers in a smooth voice beside me.
“Oh, thanks very much Will.” I reply, relieved that I don’t have to deal with the unbelievably heavy bags.
He gives a smile, almost a smolder, as he climbs into the back of the van to reach the luggage. His smile stays in my mind a few seconds longer, until I see him roll up the sleeves of his shirt and grab the cases. I become mesmerized by his muscular arms---- Stop it Maika. Stop thinking about everything right this second or you’ll kill yourself. Just don’t look at his… his.. amazing, muscular, heavenly…arms.
“You ‘lright there?” Will says to me, one side of his mouth pulled into a sly grin.
“Oh, um.. yeah. Arms---I MEAN I’M. I’m fine. I definitely didn’t see your arms. I mean, I see your arms, but I just.. I…ahh.” I sighed in defeat, giving up trying to provide an explanation.
He gives a small laugh under his breath again as he tries to suppress a smile.
He hops out of the van with a bag in each hand as he rolls them onto the sidewalk and to the front door. I follow close behind and move to stand with Kiera. I can see Kyle smiling at me in the corner of my eye and I reach forward and knock on the black door labeled 152.
The door opened to a friendly looking elderly woman, with a welcoming smile on her face.
“Hi, you’re Mrs. Palmer right? We’re Kiera and Maika.” I introduced.
“Hello darlings! I’m so happy to meet you! You’ll love it here in London. Oh, and you’ve already brought some friends! Which ones are your boyfriends? Good looking bunch of lads they are.” She rattled on, very excitedly.
“Oh, uh.. we’re all just friends. Thought it’d be good to have a few friends to help us settle down.” Kiera answered, trying to keep the situation from becoming more awkward than it was already.
“Ah, I see. Well anyways, I’m glad you’re all here. Please come in. I actually just had a nice gentleman bring over a couple of mattresses last minute for you two. He owed me a couple of favors and I thought that’d be a good way to repay me.” She explained as she led us all into the flat.
My mind secretly jumped for joy at the fact that I actually had some kind of bed, so now my back won’t ache in the morning.
Immediately entering the flat, there was a small living area with two recliners facing each other and a small coffee table in the center, with a record player and a few records stacked beside it. The rest of the living room was virtually empty and could easily fit more furniture. To right was the kitchen with a kettle, stove, microwave, oven, fridge, and sink already installed and ready for use. The light brown carpet was soft, even through my shoes and the walls were a deep maroon color. To the left were three doors. The two outer doors were to bedrooms with a bathroom in the center.
“Would any of you beautiful people like some tea? I can put the kettle on if you’d like.” Mrs. Palmer offered as we stood in the middle of the room.
We all declined politely and I moved to grab the bags from Will to bring them into the bedrooms. “Here Will, I can take these now.” I told him, reaching for the handle.
“No, please. I’m happy to help.” He said, his grip still firm on the bags.
We made eye contact and it made my heart flutter. “Thanks.”
I opened the bedroom door and Will dropped off the bags and came back out into the living room. His arm brushed against mine as he walked through the doorway and it gave me the chills. Kyle flashed a quick look of hurt and jealousy on his face, and I felt guilty. He seems to really like me and then Will starts doing all of this? I’m sure Will doesn’t mean it, but I can already tell this is going to be difficult.
“So, uh, you guys all ready?” Dan asked, breaking the silence that filled the room.
“Yeah, let’s go eat. We can order pizza and I can introduce Maika and Kiera to the beautiful creation of mine that is the ‘pizza sandwich’.” Kyle said dramatically.
That earned a giggle from Kiera and I as we began to file out the exit.
“Heading out?” I heard Mrs. Palmer call from her flat.
“Yeah Mrs. Palmer. Kyle here invited us over for dinner.” I explained.
“Oh, well okay! Have fun dearies! Use protection!” She called out. She seems to misunderstand our situation.
“We will!” Woody shouted back, jokingly.
“Shu’up Woody! We’ll make the girls uncomfortable if we keep acting like these weird freaks.” Dan scolded.
“We’re the ones here that’ll win at making anyone uncomfortable.” I answered as we walked outside towards Woody’s van.
Once again we piled into the small white van uncomfortably, smashed between each other and various wires and synthesizers.
