Getting ready in the morning was the most painful part of the day. You're just so tired, you don't actually see that your door was closed, so you run into it. Or, as you go downstairs to get breakfast you stumb your toe on the table leg. You can't forget when the shower head setting is on "Jet" and the water drills itself into your back. Or it could just be that all this stuff only happens to Ally Hailstone. Possibly. She wouldn't put that possibility behind her. Her life was filled with bad luck. Her mother was a lazy, grumpy, old woman. Who also somehow got hitched with the handsome, way too young for her, Alec Carlton. They had been dating for almost seven months. And Ally's mother neglected to see that Alec was a double crossing, back stabbing jack-ass. Of course, Ally would never say this to Alec, nor her mother. She didn't find it her place. Her mother would have to find out herself, because if she did, she would most likely believe it. If Ally had told her, her mother would probably say something like "Oh darling, I know you don't like him. But just wait. You'll warm up to him." She knew she'd say that, because that's what she had told her over and over and over. For the past seven months they had been together. She never got used to Alec though. She only liked his son, which came over occasionally. His name was Kik. It was an odd and unique name. But Kik was an odd and unique kid. So Ally believed it suited him well. Whenever Kik came over, he and Ally would just sit in the livingroom and watch TV. Or play a card game. Rarely, they would play a video game. They never talked, unless it were to say "I'll be right back." Or "Your turn." But that was it. That's partially why she liked Kik. He was quiet, and she never knew what he was thinking. Nor did she care what he thought. She knew he wouldn't judge her. And even if she did, she wouldn't know about it. It brought peace to her mind. Sometimes Jasmine, Ally's little sister, would come down and play with that. But she didn't know the rules to the games they played, so she pretty much just sat there with some cards in her hand the entire time. Never doing anything. Just sitting there. Holding the cars, acting as if she knew what she was doing.

"C'mon Jasmine. We need to get to school." The highschool and middle school students worked in the same building. So Ally took Jasmine to school with her everyday. Jasmine was twelve, and went to eighth grade. Ally was sixteen and was in tenth grade. So they would go to school together, and they would walk home together. Just like any other pair of siblings. At least, that's how Ally saw it. She never left her sisters side, unless she had. She would protect her no matter what. Even if that meant she got hurt. As long as Jasmine was safe. Jasmine always said that she didn't need to be so protective. But Ally never listened. Everyone was scared of her anyway, so she might as well use that fear to her advantage.

"I'm coming! I just have to finish brushing my hair!" Jasmine yelled back. Ally stood by the door, tapping her foot impatiently. It took another five minutes before Jasmine came downstairs. She was wearing a ball cap and had her face to the floor. Ally eyed her suspiciously.
