I tilted the chin slightly towards my 'partner' while he read the coroner's report. "All her organs are intact, the toxicology report came back clean, and there are no strange markings or bruising on the body," he spoke, sounding almost bored.
"Could you pull out the clothes, please," I asked not looking away from the dead woman's face.
"Why?"
"Call it a hunch," I said simply, smiling softly as he grumbled in response. I heard the rustling of him pulling out the clothing and averted my attention to the corpse's hair.
"Now what are you doing?" He sighed wearily and I rollex my eyes, knowing he couldn't see me.
"When a demon possesses someone and their strong enough, sometimes it will leave a mark. Kind of like a calling card," I explained patiently. He grunted in response before turning back to his own task. After a few minutes of silence I found what I was looking for. "Blake, come here."
"What," he sighed, setting down the clothes and walking to the operating table.
"Do you see that," I asked, pushing away the woman's hair to reveal a crucifix right behind her left ear. Blake looked over my shoulder and made a suprised sound.
"Detective Motley, Detective Banks, it seems that there was a mix up at the head office," the intern who showed us in spoke timidly. I looked up to see him and the Winchesters blocking the only exit. I masked my suprise and smiled politely at the scrub clad man. "Thank you, Mr. Langston, but I called them here," I spoke as kindly as I could at the moment. His skin reddened slightly and he mumbled about having other work to do before hurrying away.
"Evangeline," the shorter one, Dean, said my name as if he was about to scold me.
"Blake, could you get a picture of that. I'm going to get another look at those clothes," I chose to ignore the two hulking men in favor of the task at hand. I sifted to the ugly green polyester as they waited for me to respond.
Finally I gave in, sighing before looking up to meet their eyes. "What," I bit snipply.
"What are you doing?" Dean asked in a superior tone.
"I'm on a case, why?" I said in the same sassy tone.
"This is a waste of time, Dean," Sam sighed and I scoffed in agreement and felt the inside of the jacket for a pocket.
"You heard what Dad said, Sammy. We need to look out for her, she's family." His jaw was set and he had a no nonsense look on his face. With his feminine features, it seemed a little silly.
"If you boys don't mind, us professionals have a monster to hunt," I pocketed the scrap of paper and stuffed the clothes back into the evidence bag. "Also, we were here first so you are going to have to find a new job."
"Now hold on Evs," Blake spoke up, putting the body back on the roller and into the fridge. "The Winchesters are pretty good hunters, they wouldn't be famous if they weren't. They could help us on the case, I mean who better to help us gank a-"
"Blake, trust me, that is not a good idea. Trouble follows them around like a lost puppy," I warned him, ignoring the two offended men.
"That can't be all true," he tried to defend them meekly.
"She's got a point," Sam said, slightly suprised. I shot him a look and peeled off the blue latex gloves. "But we could still help," he offered.
"No definately not. I don't work with Winchesters," I said firmly glaring at him evenly.
"Well that's counter productive considering you are a Winchester," his brother responded haughtily.
"No, I am not. Blake I'm leaving, are you coming or are you going to have a bro fest with tweedle dumb and dumber?" I walked past them and heard Blake behind me.
