S Y N O P S I S

Lumi is the fire princess, granddaughter of the great Empress Kiyo of the Fire Lands. All Lumi has ever wanted was to join the Kaio army and faithfully serve her twin brother, Tai, when he becomes king of Kakaio.

However, Lumi's grandmother has a different vision for Lumi's future.

When she turns sixteen, Lumi is offered as a bride to Prince Raphael of Lombardia as a means of fostering peace between the two nations. But Tai has no intention of fostering peace. Tai has a plan to destroy it all.

R E C O M M E N D E D

After reading the first few lines of Starrlings, I was already in love. The story is so raw and powerful that it brought tears to my eyes. And the characters, oh the characters; they're beautiful and broken, but you can't help but love every single one of them -- even Lumi's grumpy twin brother, Tai.

I'm ashamed to say this, but Starrlings is one of the first fantasy books with Asian protagonists that I have ever read. It's really exciting and refreshing to read a book like that.

Also, ellekirks's skills at world building are simply out of this world. Little bits of our own cultures were weaved into Starrlings's intricate world, and the way the author introduced us to her masterpiece is amazing.

I'd write a lot more about this book, but you should check it out yourself. You definitely won't regret it!
