The unit was waiting in the waiting room for 2 hours. Antonio, prayed in spanish silently, voight tried to take control over everyrhing while yelling at nurses for news, Ruzek paced, Alvin just sat in a chair head down, burgess and atwater just did in a corner, and Erin, she sat in a corner crying.

A few minutes past and Dawson, Hermann,and Otis went and sat at the waiting room since jay helped them out with the Mollys issue.

Its been 4 hours since they brought Jay in. To the team it seemed like years.

Finally a doctor came out with q glum face. "Family of Jay Halstead?" The team and the fire house 51 trio raised theur heads, Erin stood up. "Doc tell us what you got!" Erin cried. "Im sorry, who here is closest to Jay?" "Im, but we are all family you can tell us." Erin said. Dawson stood up and walked out each time picking up her pace to a running point, crying cause being a paramedic she knew what the doctor meant.

"Doc just say something." Antonio pleaded. "Ok, well, as you saw, Jay got a shot right next to his heart, which caused hime to crash a couple times in the ambulance." By this point Erin was sobbing. And Ruzek, and Antonio silently crying. "C'mon Doc we want to know whats going on stop pointing out what we already know." Voight ,told her, pressing for more. "He had alot of internal bleeding, we couldnt stop all of it, his heart stopped a three times and we revived him two times, im sorry he died today at 11:58 pm.

"No! No!" Erin sobbed, she got up and ran towards the exit standing close to the railing of the bridge across from the hospital. She needed to catch her breath. Dawson saw her and walked towards her giving her a hug and whispering "im so sorry" in her ear. "I lost my best friend, boyfriend, fiance, partner!" Sbe sobbed.

20 minutes later Erin and Gaby walked inside of the hospital to the emergency waiting room. Sbe saw voight punching the wall Antonio sobbing, ruzek whispering incoherent words while pacing the room later punching the wall, burgess was crying, aywater trying to console her, and the two firefighters from 51 sat with there head in there hands.

Gaby went over to Antonio, "hey big bro"she cried. "Gabs, I lost my little brother, my best friend!" He sobbed. She started to sob, she never saw the team ir her brother so vulnerble. "Hermano he isng fully gone, you know the names that go on the wall of fallen officers, Jules and Jays, they don't represent death, they represent the lives we save. When Shay died I was in denial. I thought it was my fault because we changed places, she ended up standing where I was that day when the beam came down but it wasnt my fault. We chose this job cause it was our calling, many arent cut out to be police officers, or paramedics, firefighters, or being part of the military corps. But we chose the job knowing that we are risking out lives to save others. So think. Jay didnt die because iy was your fault, or Erins or the teams cause it wasn't, he died being the hero." She cried. "Gabs te amo" I love you to"

One hour later the team went their separate ways. Erin went jome to an empty house. She packed her bags and decided to crash some where cause she couldn't stay. She packed her clothes, jays CPD shirt and jacket his pillow and a picture of him and her at the park laughing and having a good time.
