“We’re running late, hurry up and get dressed.” Vi said as she put on her clothes.
“Well, it’s your fault.” He said as he closed his bag.
She looked at him and laughed, Jhin grabbed all the bags and walked downstairs. They gave the key of the room to the receptionist and walked towards the street where they had to wait for the carriage. It was almost two in the afternoon as they stood there looking at each other. Jhin wanted to say something but he decided not to disturb the moment.
The streets were full of people walking around and kids playing and running with their dogs, it was a normal busy day. Nobody recognized Jhin or Vi since they perfectly blended with their surroundings with the clothes they were wearing.
The carriage arrived on time. Jhin sat next to Vi. He kept looking out the window and counting under his breath.
“One, two, three, four, two, two, three, four.”
Vi kept looking at him. She didn’t want to interrupt him but she was a little bored. Vi reached for Jhin’s hand and tightly locked her fingers with his. Jhin stared at her with a smile.
“You’re bored aren’t you?”
“Just a little. You’re too quiet.”
“Sorry, it’s hard to get used to this.”
Jhin kissed her cheek as he put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer. He didn’t feel like him anymore, which was a little confusing for him, but he could get used to it. He knew he loved her and that she loved him back, so he had nothing to worry about.
The rest of the ride they spent the time playing cards, Jhin was really good at it but let Vi win all of the games. She was so thrilled with everything that was happening and she couldn't hide it.
It was 4:04 when they arrived at the inn they were going to stay for the next few days.
“Sir! I’m glad to see you again.” The boy said as he bowed.
Jhin nodded back and walked towards the reception. They got the key for the room and walked down the hallway.
It was a big room, it’s walls were brightly-colored and had two huge windows with beautifully adorned curtains; there were two beds and each had cream-colored sheets and a round oak table with four chairs in the center of the room.
“Is she part of the plan?” Jonah asked.
“She insisted, so we have to proceed as intended.”
“I can help you and you know it. Stop acting like I’m going to mess things up.” She said putting her bags in the table.
“I know my dear, but Jonah didn't.”
They all sat around the table as Vi displayed every piece of information she had in her bag. They spent almost 3 hours putting together all the information they had about C. Even though he never stayed long in the same place, there was a huge party the next day where all the wealthy people in Ionia would attend, and of course, they couldn’t miss the chance.
Vi had no clothes appropriate for the event but they could quickly fix that. Jhin, of course, was always prepared for these occasions.
“I’d say... A crimson red dress would look fantastic on you..” Jhin said looking at her.
"I'm not sure..."
Jhin insisted on buying her everything she needed for the party; she picked everything from shoes to makeup and accessories. Jhin took her to his favorite restaurant so she could taste everything he liked.
"It might be our last night together..." He thought
"So what are you thinking about?" She asked
"That we must have fun and get a little cheeky." He said as he grabbed the bottle of red wine and drank almost half of it.
"Wow, Jhin are you ok?"
"Better than ever..."
They both got drunk and could barely walk back to the inn. They spent all night talking about everything they wanted to do when all this was over.
"So... Would you like to have any..."
"Uh, children? Well... You know how I feel about that."
"I know but can you imagine having two little us running around the house?"
"Oh God no, not two. Just one."
"That means you're considering it?"
"Well, no... Just in the hypothetical future, if we do have... Just one."
She smiled as she hugged him, they were both wasted but everything he said had some truth to it. He wanted to stay with her no matter what, but there was nothing he could do about his job.
It was four past three as they went to bed in the same clothes they've been wearing since they arrived in Ionia.
