It was time for Rico's funeral. I had gotten dressed and dropped Kairi at Don's mothers house. I got back to the house and walk up to our bedroom. I softly knock on the door and open it. Don is sitting on the bed staring at a picture of him and Rico from when they were kids. "You ready" I ask.
He sniffles then nods his head. He walks over to me and sticks out his hand. I grab it and we walk out the house. We drive to the funeral home. There is a bunch of paparazzi but Don's bodyguards make sure everyone gets in safe.
It was time for us to view the body. I grabbed Don's hand and tried walking forward but he wouldn't budge. "I can't look at him like that Nick" he says through tears. I nod and rub his back.
I look over at Ari and see she's strangely calm. She's been having a really tough time. She didn't want anyone to know but they had a son recently. I know it was breaking her heart to bury not only the love of her life but her sons father. She brought the baby that day and everyone was surprised.
She walked over to his casket and stared at him before crying into his chest. I slowly rubbed her back and waited for her to finish. So many people filled the room. Everybody loved Rico. He was goofy but he was loyal and dependable. He could make you laugh and be ready to fight anybody at any moment for you. He was deeply loved and he will be missed just the same.
After the funeral and the burial sight, we had the repast at me and Don's house. People were everywhere and I did my best to be a great hostess. I scan the room looking for Don but don't see him. I walk to the bathroom and knock on it. "It's taken" he yelled while his voice cracked. "It's me baby" I say softly. He unlocks the door and I open it. His eyes are bloodshot and his face is wet. I embrace him while he sits on top of the toilet. "I'm so sorry Don. I know how much you loved him. He loved you too" I say.
He starts crying some more and I rock him back and forth as tears flowed down my face. "My brother is gone Nick" he says lowly. "I know babe" I say rubbing his back. He leans back and wipes his face. He tries to collect himself and washes his face with water. I stand back and watch him. I couldn't help but feel it was my fault. I dated Jayceon. I brought this sadness to our family.
He turns around and leans down to peck my lips. I kiss him back. "I love you Nicki" he says. "I love you too Don" I say looking into his eyes. We kiss once more and walk out of the bathroom.
After the repast and everything was cleaned up. I plopped down on the couch. I picked up my phone and scrolled through IG.
