Scott's POV
"We can at least try to get you to remember. The pack needs you, I need you. You haven't seen what it's been like since you've been gone. Nothings been the same."
Scott thought back to the night Stiles went missing.
They had all left the pack meeting at different times, Stiles being the first to leave since he was picking up dinner for his dad. Scott left soon after, but when he got home he got a call from the sheriff.
"Hey Scott, just wondering if Stiles is with you because he isn't home and I thought he was going to be home tonight."
"I actually haven't seen him since the pack meeting. He left early to pick up food for the both of you. I can call the rest of the pack to see if they've seen him."
"Thanks Scott. It's just not like him to not tell me where he's going after the whole possessed-by-an-evil-fox-spirit-thing."
"No need to worry Sheriff, his jeep could have broken down, multiple times."
After making calls to the rest of the pack, and not getting any closer to figuring out where Stiles was Scott decided to go look for him with the pack. The went on the path Stiles normally took to get home when they ran into something.
His jeep was pulled over by the side of the road. No exterior damage seemed to have been done to the jeep, but when Liam opened the hood of the jeep and smoke came out Scott knew the jeep broke down.
From there the pack was able to follow his scent down the road getting even more nervous as time went on. Especially when they started to smell blood, and then they saw it.
There was a puddle of blood roughly the size of a tire on the road. Scott raced to the puddle to see if it was Stiles's blood and when he turned to the pack his face gave it away. It was Stiles's blood, and it was fresh.
They searched day and night to find him with everyone coming up on a trail that just stopped. Even the werewolves weren't able to pick up Stiles's scent past a few miles from the blood.
Scott had called the sheriff, since Stiles was his son, and upon seeing the blood the sheriff sent out an APB on Stiles, but to no luck Stiles was still missing when morning came.
"Weeks went on until even the last of us had given up hope. Lydia not feeling you dying was the only comfort we still had, but than it no longer provided comfort. We thought maybe we missed it, the scream. Maybe she did it while she was sleeping and no one heard it. Then your father made the call. You were pronounced dead and the case ran cold, but your father wasn't the only one effected. The pack died without you."
Scott thought back on a more recent memory.
The first bell had just rung, Scott was going to be late, but it didn't matter. School was just a distraction from the fact that his best friend had died, and he hadn't been there to help him. Scott's grades were down again and his social life was suffering even more than it had before. Not to mention he was benched in lacrosse for being "unfocused and disorderly."
But it wasn't just him. Malia lost her anchor, and was having trouble with changing. Liam felt like he lost a brother and was determined to find Stiles, so his whole life revolved around the hunt costing him to be benched as well. Derek had blamed himself for calling the pack meeting that night especially when it wasn't needed. Lydia, she was the worst of them all.
Lydia fell into a depressed state. She blamed herself for not knowing Stiles was in trouble. She believed that if she had known things would have ended differently. Stiles could have gotten help, but she didn't know and she didn't think she could ever forgive herself.
The pack suffered even more than the individuals. At first there was a decrease in all pack meetings and they all revolved around finding Stiles, but after months of looking they stopped all together. Derek had gone off the gird and no one had seen him since the last meeting. The only time the pack saw each other was during school, most often during lunch. But they never talked. They couldn't think of anything to say. Everything they said in the beginning lead them back to Stiles where they all had to hold back tears while talking.
When Mason tried to get the pack to talk to one another again they got hostile. No one would listen to one another and all conversations ended in yelling at one another. They all lost an anchor.
"You know Stiles this is the first time we've seen Derek since you disappeared. I sent him a text thinking he would ignore it like all the others, but he didn't. He came. Malia showed us that she could change again when we were in the car. Lydia smiled for the first time in over a year today. When she saw you. I got my best friend back physically, but mentally this isn't the person I knew."
"Scott, I know you want me to be the person you knew, but I won't be. I can never go back to the way I was."
"Stiles, you don't mean that. You think you do, but you don't. We can help. All of us can. Lydia, Malia, Liam, Derek, me. We're all there for you."
"I just don't know if I want to be that person anymore. You said it yourself. Mentally I'm not the person you knew, and what if I never am. Minho excepts me for the way I am now. What if I try, but I never go back to the person you knew. It's not fair to me or to you, or to any of them. I know you want Stiles back, but he's not coming back."
So I think there will only be one, maybe two more chapters left.
