“#####, do you love me?” I had ask curled up in his arms.

“What makes you think otherwise?” He had said, looking at his phone.

“I just want you to tell me that you love me. I want it in your own words.” My voice barely came out in a whisper.

“Mhm, of course I do Brooke.” And at that moment his phone dinged notifying him of a text. He smiled and kissed my lips. His warmth over took my lips and then my face. Our bodies rolled over, dropping me to the bed and he stood up, pulling away from me.

“####?”

“I'm sorry, My mom's condition is getting worse. I have to go check on her.” As he spoke he moved around dressing himself in neater clothes.

“O-Okay. I'll be here. Waiting.” I laugh a bit, “Tell your mother I said Hi.” He shut the door without a word. “I love you.”

“I change my mind. I look ridiculous!” I whine to Rachel as she drives us to whatever bar Colin told her.

“Oh Please. You're adorable! Just look at you!” She insists gesturing to my skimpy, black dress she has squeezed me in just moments before. Thank God I managed to talk her into letting me wear flats. I shift uncomfortably in the seat.

“I don't know about this… I'm not comfortable.” I whine.

She parks in the bar's parking lot and she turns to me. Brown eyes looking over me, “It's just you, me, and Colin. There's nothing to freak about.” She sighs and pushes a lock of my loose blonde hair behind my ear, “But if you don't want to then we can turn around and I'll take you home.”

I think over the pros and cons. I mean, it's Rachel and Colin, what do I have to fear? Rachel raises her hand and I look over my shoulder to see Colin standing a little ways away, hands in his royal blue, vest pockets. He is fiddling with his buttons and his hair. I smile looking at him, Why am I freaking out?

I look back to Rachel, “I'm good.” And before she can protest I stumble over myself to get out. My feet failed me and I fall face first into Colin's chest.

“Whoa there Brookey, don't you think it's a little early in the night to start falling for me?” His hands rest on my hips as he helps me stand up. A faint smile makes its way into my lips as I look up at his face.

“I'm fine,” I reassure him, “I just tripped a bit.”

“Are you sure?”

Rachel slams the door, walking over, looking pretty as ever, “Hi Colin.” She smiles flirtatiously at him, grabbing my arm, and pulling me away so she could stand in my place- in front of Colin.

“Wow Rach… You look amazing as always…” He chuckles in response.

“Come on you guys! I don't want to stand here the whole night!” I pull away from Rachel and walk myself into- the bar.

Music blares from every angle, the silhouettes of dancing bodies shine in the multi-colored lights. I wrinkle my nose at the smell of sweaty bodies and drinks of all kind-my guess would be alcohol-

“Brooklyn! Careful!” Rachel yells over the music.

“C'mon Rach! Let her live a little!” Colin laughs, “She hasn't been out in forever!”

He was right. I'm not about to let some stupid heartbreak keep me from fun, what is this? A cheesy Rom-Com, yeah no… I don't think so.

I smile and nod, I gesture that I'm going out to dance and without waiting for a nod of approval, I run into the crowd.

I wouldn't call myself an extrovert or an introvert. I mean, I'm the kind of girl that doesn't like talking to strangers, but I'm not talking to anyone, I'm trying to lose myself. That is my goal here. I sway my hips to the rhythm, dancing my pain away. I'm a new person. I'm not allowing myself to get hurt by some boy. I don't need anyone! My name is Brooklyn Belfast and I'm my own woman!

~~~
“I'm a good person right?” I sob into the bar table, Rachel patting my back. I have no idea how many drinks I've had, no to mention what it is. “I mean… why would he leave me?!” Okay. So maybe I'm not quite over him.
“Take a deep breath, Brooke, You'll be okay.”
“No I won't! I need him! I love him! He's all I knowwww.”
“I got her, Rachel.” Colin says, sitting on the other side of me.
“I don't know Colin… She's not in the best shape…”
“Oh come on! We'll just go on a little walk, that's all.” He assures her.
“If you say so… Call me if there's trouble.” And with that Rachel stands and leaves.
~~~

“Geez, Brooke, You've got to work with me.”

I giggle as I stumble around the parking lot, Colin holding me up, “Why should I?” I slur in his face.

“Oh my lord, Brooklyn, You are so drunk.”

“Colin. I love you. So much!” I wrap my arms around his neck, a small smile on my lips.

Colin blushes, “No, Brooke. You're not thinking. You're drunk.”

“Ever since day one.” I whisper, “All you ever do to tease me and I've been playing coy… but no longer.”

“Brooke-”

“I want you to kiss me, Colin.” Something stirs within me.

“Brooke, really. I need to get you home.” His voice is shaky now, unsure.

“Please Colin… I need you.” I start to pull him close ignoring a soft grumbling from the depths of my stomach.

“Brooke, Your breath reeks of alcohol.”

“Smell can't keep us apart…” Right there in the parking lot I could think of nothing else but the desire of my lips on Colin's. Past experiences, surroundings, people, and everything else slip from my mind. The warmth of my lips hovers over his, barely centimeters apart. I can feel his breath and I pull him closer.

“Brooke ple-”

“Miss. Belfast and Mr. Menner.” Mr. Miller's voice cuts through my mind, freezing me.

I turn to my boss, he towers over and next to us. How had I not noticed him creeping over into my moment. He was so handsome up close, still wearing his fancy suit and tie, hair still neat. “Mr. Jac-” I double over and vomit all over his shoes.
