Alex hunched over out of breath, exhausted; he has been running for what seems like hours in the woods. He was running from Rick and Hunter. For they had spotted him out of the crowd after school and they liked to bully him when ever they had the chance. It all started one year and seven months ago when Alex had first came out, saying that he was transgender. Alex thought that maybe they had bullied him because of this, it broke his heart. Him and Rick use to be best friends after all; what had happened between them?

Alex soon forgot the thought because he could hear the two boys coming towards him. He ducked behind a bush to not be seen by the two bullies. "Where is that freak!", said Hunter in a tired kind of tone. "I swear I saw her go this way.", Rick comments. As soon as he said 'her' it bugged Alex; not because he did it on accident but to do so on purpose. He if anything was ok if someone were to accidentally say her or his female name. It would be an accident after all not to hurt his feelings in anyway. Alex tried to get a better look at the two by stepping forward but he failed to see the stick on the floor. He stepped right on it, making a loud snap that had echoed through the whole forest.

He cringed at himself and was quickly face to face with Hunter and Rick, who were both looking down at him smirking. 'Oh god, I've done it now haven't I' Alex fearful thought to himself. "Hey Kate, long time no see.", Hunter said to him menacingly. Alex was in full fear now, his skin turned white and he couldn't speak.

"What, not going to say anything?", Hunter spoke again getting a little closer. Alex backed up not wanting the gap to close between them. He looked around trying to find a way to escape, maybe he can run all the way home from here. "Hey, we're talking to you.", Rick finally spoke.

Alex looked up at Rick with sad eyes, he quickly looked back down because Rick looked away with pain in his eyes. Did Rick feel... sympathy for him? Alex tried to make a run for it but failed. Hunter had left his foot out for him to trip on it, "Come on Kate, we just want to play. After all Rick use to be your friend. Don't you miss him." Alex struggled to get up and run again, but was instantly stopped by Hunter pushing him back down. " You aren't going anywhere until we're done here."

"Please I just want to go home."

"You know I really don't care what you want. You type of people make me sick. You're not fooling anyone you know. Everyone at school knows your just some ugly ass dike." Hunter had said all this with disgust and some how amusement at the same time.

Tears started to well up in his eyes, "You're lying." Alex responded in a weak, small voice.

"Hmmmm, what you think I'm lying to you. If I wanted to lie to you I would have said you 'name'. How is that going with your father by the way, oh wait, I forgot." Hunter laughed down at him while Rick just stood there.

Alex again tried to get up, but this time was kicked in the leg. "If you keep struggling, this will just be more fun for me." Alex didn't know what to do. If he moved then he would just get hurt, but if he stayed... well he didn't know what would happen but he didn't want to find out.

Rick intervened, "Yo Hunter, we have to go now.

"What, why?"

"Don't you remember, I just got that new video game from the store today. If we don't head to my house now then we can't play for that long."

"Hmmmmm, ok, fine. I'll see you around Kate." Hunter had spoke of his old name with venom.

The two boys had left Alex alone in the woods, leaving him safe for the time being. But instead of getting up and leaving, Alex just stayed there. He rolled over on to his back and cried, this was the hundredth time they had bullied him; scaringly the first time they had actually physically harmed him. Was this going to be a normal thing now? Where they going to try and do this again?

Fear rose into his face and he cried harder. After a few minutes he picked himself up, tripping a little while doing so. His leg hurt bad from the kick, by now there should be a bruise. Alex ignored it the best he could while walking all the way home. It was a mile walk from here to the house, so it was going to be a little bit of a challenge. He groaned to himself just thinking about it.

When he finally made it home he went straight upstairs to his room. He throw his backpack onto the floor and fell into his bed.

As soon as he relaxed into the bed he fell asleep. Hoping to at least have some decent dreams.
