Fun Chapter 6

Alex went back to his class and went to lunch when the bell ranged. On the way over to the bleachers he saw Rick already waiting for him. Rick smiled softly at Alex and waved, he did the same back. "I don't know about you but I'm happy that we won't have to deal with Hunter for awhile." Rick said once Alex was close enough to hear him.

"Yes, I'm a lot more relaxed now."

"How are you holding up from yesterday and today?"

"I'm all good. Though I feel kind of shaky."

"Shaky?"

"Yeah, like everything is unbalanced or like there's a lot of change happening that I'm not ready for."

"Hmmm, you'll be ok. You always seem to be positive about life."

"Yeah. So I want to ask you some questions, if that's ok?"

"Sure, ask away."

"So, how did you become friends with Hunter?"

Rick cringed at the question, obviously a little uncomfortable. "It's ok if you don't want to answer the question. I can ask something else."

"No, it's ok. It was around two weeks after you came out. He noticed I wasn't talking to you and avoiding you. He came to me at lunch and asked if you were giving me trouble. He talked about how people like you are ruining this country and praying on the weak. I was mad and confused so I agreed with him. From there we become 'friends', what we became were evil, assholes that would terrorize you for the next year and a half."

"It's ok, I forgive you."

"I know, but I don't forgive myself. I still feel terrible about what I've done."

"I hope you would forgive yourself eventually. I don't want you to be in this internal anguish."

"Don't worry about it. Do you have anymore questions?"

"Kind of. I just want to explain something to you. I've been thinking about what you said to me yesterday, about having feeling for me still. I do like you too, I've liked you since we were kids. That's changed a little since then and I feel that you're not really gay. I don't want to feel that I would be forcing you to date me now."

"Oh, well... I don't really know how to feel about that. Yes I do have feelings for you, but I just... I don't know. I think I'm really confused right now."

"I understand how that can feel. I just wanted to know how you felt about how I felt, if that makes any sense."

Rick chuckled a little bit at the end of that sentence. He walked over to the stump and Alex followed.

Rick speaks softly, "It's ok. I'll figure it out."

Alex smiles at him, "Haha, yeah. So should we go get food now."

"Yeah lets go."

The day continues as always and Alex was leaving his class to get to Rick. But notices Donovan at the door. He's curious and walks towards Donovan, "Hey."

"Hi, ummm. So Jackie."

"Oh yeah, what happened."

"Well at lunch time when I went to go eat with the group to find Jackie yelling madly at the others. I was so confused at first because you know how fast she talks when she is REALLY mad."

Alex laughs and agrees with him.

"Well is it all true about what she said about you and Rick? You guys are friends now?"

"Yes, I feel that he really wants to make things better and I think I should give him a chance."

"I see. Well I don't know much about this like you do, but if you feel this is the way to go then I trust your choices. I'll always be here if you fall."

"Thanks Donovan."

"Yeah, well I won't keep you. You probably want to go home."

Alex noded in response. Donovan stepped aside and waved good bye with a warm smile, Alex did the same walking away to meet up with Rick. Once Alex was close enough for Rick to see him, he waved him over. They both got into the car, "So I was thinking that maybe you wanted to do something today. We don't have have school tomorrow and can stay up later than usual."

"Yeah, sure. What were you thinking about doing?"

"I was thinking maybe we can go to Funland."

"Really, that would be so fun. We haven't gone there together since for ever."

"OK then, off to Funland."

They started their drive to Funland, Alex texting his mom that he was going. Funland was a place full of different kinds of actives, the building itself was huge and had an outdoor area specifically for a paint ball course. Often the two would stay inside and play the arcade games. Once they got there Rick thought they could do something different this time.

"Do you think you would like to do something else here instead?"

"Sure. Do you want to do anything particular?"

"Do you know how to roller skate?"

"No, I've never done it before."

"I can teach you. It's not too bad and I'll catch you if you fall."

"Ok, I'll try it out."

They both walked in and got their wrist bands and shoes. Alex was getting a little nervous, he was mostly scared of falling down and getting hurt. He was already a little hurt from the day before and he didn't want to be in more pain. Once they were on the floor Alex quickly had lost most his balances, struggling to stay up. Rick came to his side and supported him. Rick chuckled at him, "Wow Alex, I didn't know you were this bad." Alex smirked and rolled his eyes, as if to say 'just you wait'. At first they went slow, Rick pointing out different hints to help Alex out. Alex listened to very word he said, looking very focused and determined to skate. Rick would just smile at Alex. He loved to see him this way, this is something that made him love Alex.

After a while Alex asked Rick to let go. Alex did it, he was able to skate on his own. They went on to skate for an hour and decided to go to the food court once they had finished. While they eat together they played some silly games they use to play together, like twenty-one questions and would you rather. They both somehow even got on the silly topic of a meme cult and how they should praise the great handsome squidward.

Once they finished up there, they went home. When Rick dropped Alex off at his house, they were both left with a warm feeling. Something neither of them has felt in a long time.
