I want you to stay
But you're halfway through the door and I'm too tired to beg, again,
for people to not go
And just stay
I don't want another name that'll haunt me and remind me at
night how I'd never be
enough for someone
To stay
I don't wanna go running after you and wrapping my hands around you
and kissing the back of your
neck cause every bit
of me knows
I want you to stay
I don't wanna breathe another cry and come up with foolish words to stutter between heavy gasping of breaths just so
You would stay
So if you're never gonna come back, just walk away and please don't
look back, don't give me
glances as if a word
from me will
Make you stay
I know now what I should have known long ago and I'm done playing the character who did nothing
but ask people
To stay
And if you changed your mind, don't call me up and tell me things I wanted to hear that night you ran away and I almost chased you on my knees; you could say all the magic words you knew but babe,
I won't stay
Please let me,
for once, be someone people
would bend their knees for and
beg for him
To stay
For it's all I want,
to be that person whom
somebody would be afraid to lose.
That person whom they'd never be afraid to tell to, out loud, the words I've come to fear saying:
I want you to stay
