Have you ever noticed the fog within the tree line? I never did until that morning; when I looked out the window from my bed. Our property laid half in the trees and the rest of it out. In the front of the house there are no trees and the land is completely open and starting at my bedroom window a heavy tree line that separates our house from the neighbors, by about an acre of land. I remember canting my head into my pillow as I saw the fog just stop so suddenly like there was a force field that kept it from going any further. You see, within the tree line the fog, it just doesn’t exist.

Some people don’t like to be bothered by anything before their morning coffee, or try to understand or even ‘see’ anything odd. But me… silly things like fog and force fields easily entertained me.  And nothing could have wiped that goofy little smile from my face.

Well… except for him.

“Good morning beautiful.” And there... so suddenly, that simple pleasure was taken away in a heartbeat by the sound of that disgusting course voice.

Seven twenty one, on a Saturday morning, And I wake with ‘him’ next to me. Naked, snaking his hand up the covers to meet my face with his cracked skin of his hand. There was a reason I didn’t sleep naked anymore, and he was it.

I sat up that instant, remembering it all again.

“It’s morning, Marcus. Get out of my bed.” I said to him.

He grunted and grumbled. Making noises to wordlessly say that he did not appreciate my morning attitude. Though in all honesty, It made me feel better. He had his own bed and there were plenty of other reasons he didn’t need to be in mine. Age and Marriage were just a couple.   I waited but there was no movement.

“Marcus. Get. OUT.” I demanded yet again, And a littley louder at that.

Now we have movement. The comforter was thrown towards me and his legs swung out of the bed grumbling something about needing to give my ‘old man’ a few moments to wake. But it didn’t seem to take him long to move it out of my room when he heard the clicking of the keys coming from the front door. That meant the security was back in the house and so was my smile.

It wasn’t long before my security had come to my room. As I looked up at it, it was as if I were looking in a Mirror. Same Ivory skin, star dust natural platinum blond hair, and bright sapphire blue eyes. Everything was the same except for the Masculine face and stronger build. He was my other half, my companion, my strength. He and only he was the only thing keeping me alive that morning.

Though I looked at him strange, He held such a smile on his face I would never forget. With his arms behind his back looking at me like he’d won the lottery.

“What happened to you?”

He jumped onto my bed crossing his legs below him, moving to quickly for my mind to even compute so early in the morning. But before I could complain or whine about it, two Large envelopes quickly came into view with those beautiful letters  sitting right in the top left hand corner. My eyes widened and I simply froze. “How can you be so excited about this? This…” I took the envelopes in my hand only to shove them back in to his face. “These!...  Are going to determine our future! What if we didn’t make it?”

“Oh hush your mouth silly little doe. Don’t be so negative. Here, Like always.” He took one of them back and prepared to open it. “One”

I did the same. “Two”

THREE.” And we ripped them open to pull out what was inside. Reading in unison the other one’s letter. “Dear Mr. Keen Madden…. Dear Miss Honna Madden…
