She dreamt of monsters. Evil shadows and spirits whispering in her ears. They were trying to kill her. They were trying to take the power that hid under her soft, uncalloused hands. She jolted awake but found herself being yanked back down to the squishy surface that she lay on by cloth restraints around her wrists and ankles. Panic and fear began to fill her as the memory of her failed attempt to escape rushed back into her head. She screamed and cried, thrashing against the restraints until she was shocked out of her panic by the sensation of a hand rubbing her tear soaked face. She looked up and was met with the same man that had tackled her just hours before. He looked down at her with a small smile and continued to wipe the tears from her cheeks. As the shock of seeing him faded, she felt a scream rising up her throat but before she could let out more than a whimper, he began shushing her.
"You're perfectly safe, Maya, there is no need to shout," he said in a quiet, calm voice that almost put her at ease, "I would never hurt you." Maya was so full of fear that she could barely understand what he was saying. She wanted to speak. She wanted to scream at him to take those stupid restraints off of her but, when she tried to speak, all that came out was a squeak and a cough as tears once again poured down her soft cheeks, gathering on the edge of her sweaty hairline.
The two of them stayed like that; him wiping her tears and her coughing and attempting to scream until Maya heard a door open and turned her head to see three men enter. Each man whore a kind smile and they slowly made their way towards Maya's bed. Maya recognized them as the three other men that had kidnapped and sedated her which caused her to panic even more than before.
"No!" she screamed, "I don't want another shot!" The man stroking her cheek broke out into a white noise of shushes and hums.
"You're not getting a shot," said the blond man standing at the far end of her bed, "we just came here to help Ashton over there calm you down." Maya looked up at the man who they called Ashton and saw a smirk spread across his face.
"Let me go!" she cried, "I promise I won't tell!" The expression on all the men's faces changed from joy to worry.
"We are trying to keep you safe but I don't expect you to understand right now." said Ashton in his soft, comforting tone.
After four more hours of Maya struggling and the men trying to calm her down, she fell into a restless sleep.
