                                       "Scatter!!"

*insert record scratch sound here*

So you might be wondering how my friends and I got here. Well, let's start from the beginning.
My name is Luna Ashling. I live in Florida and for the past 14 years, I separated fiction from reality. Or, at least what I thought was fiction.

So me and my friends, Kai and Jessica, were just hangin' out in my neighborhood park one summer afternoon. Everything was pretty chill until these three old ladies sat on one of the benches.  Now I left it be at first, everyone in my community is pretty friendly, but it started to get real creepy. I kept looking over to them, and they were just staring at us with this blood-curdling glare. After a few minutes of this, I really wanted to just leave. "Hey, guys? I think we should start to get goin'." "Ah... Maybe we should, it is starting to get pretty late," Jessica replied after checking her phone.
But as we get up to leave, this kid, who looks like a sixth grader, comes up to us. "Umm... is it ok if I come with you? Those ladies are really creeping me out and I think that I'm headed the same way you are." At this point, I'm real fuckin' suspicious about this kid and I'm about to let the sap down, but lo and behold, my friends don't feel the same air of suspicion as me. "Sure, why not?" Kai of all people says. Jessica agreed with her, so I'm outnumbered two to one, even though I really didn't have a say in this shit at all. So we go back to my place, but because I live here, I'm leading the pack, and I chose to go a roundabout way, which turns out to be the best decision that I've made in my goddamn life.
I keep looking back to make sure that we're not being deliberately followed and guess who I fuckin' see. Three guesses to get the right answer.

Well if you guessed those old hags, then you're correct! You win... nothing. Maybe a positive feeling I dunno anymore. Continuing!
Whenever I looked back, those ladies try to hide behind something, houses or trees, and at this point, all of my slasher senses are tingling. I start to pick up the pace, making sure that the three behind me are keeping up. Now the 11 year old looks just as worried as I feel so I know at this point that I'm not imagining things. Yet as I look back, those hags are keeping up the pace real well, and they're starting to gain on us. Then the kid yells at the top of his lungs.

                                          "RUN!!!"

So without a moment's hesitation, I sprint like I've never sprinted before. I looked back seeing the ladies dashing as well, and my friends who are too confused to know what's going on. As soon as I start running though, Kai catches on. I see her grab Jessica's arm and begin to run as well.
I see everyone now, in a mad dash. "Follow me!" I lead everyone back to the park, into the forest near it. It was way too risky to go home. Then as we reached the brush line, the creepy women turn into what looks like harpies! Fuckin' harpies man!
So after getting a few feet in, as loudly and as powerfully as I can, I make one last call.

                                       "Scatter!!"

So now we're here. I'm running for my fucking life, and luckily for me, I only have one on my tail. As I'm weaving through the trees, praying that the harpy doesn't get to me, I think of a battle strategy.
I couldn't leave it conscious, then it would just pose more of a threat to my friends, and I really don't want them to die. So first things first, I need to get to the boggiest area I can.
I manage to get to a pretty dank area, with the harpy far, but still in sight. Without hesitation, I turn behind a tree and start climbing that shit. I actually manage to get a good 12 feet up before I rest, hell almost like I was kinda floating up there. Now, goddamn that harpy. She's pretty smart. She noticed that my trail just suddenly ended so now she's scouting around my tree. Get away from my tree bitch! It ain't for you.
She looks tired, and her movements are starting to lag, so now is the moment to strike. I break off a thick branch and take off all of the twigs and moss attached to it. Then the moment she was in the right place, it was all over for her. I jump down from the tree, hitting her in the head with the makeshift bat I made. Thank god that it was marshy too, as the wet forage cushioned my fall.
As I recovered, I saw that she was still unconscious. I've seen enough horror movies where the killer comes back after irresponsible characters don't make sure that they're dead. So I grab my "bat" and walk over to her. There's not much I can do with a large, long, blunt object; but I can beat her to death with it. Y'know, make sure that all possibilities of threat are gone.

I do consider that she could be dead though, because of the force on the hit she took, although she proves me wrong. I see her eyes open slowly, with a pleading and deceptive glare. So I raise the branch up high, right above her head.

There's nothing wrong with closure, right?
