Chapter 19

*PETER'S POV*

It's time for our plan to come into effect. We all separate in different directions, walking slowly and sneakily. I climb up to a piece of debris above the open area where we were before and wait. Everyone else hides behind various things, except Doctor Strange. He just stands there expectantly.

"I knew you'd come," I hear a deep and intimidating voice say from below me. I crawl up, slowly, to the edge and look down.

Is that Thanos?

It's a giant purple guy with a golden glove-thing. I think Dad called it a gauntlet. He was talking to Doctor Strange.

"What is this place?" Strange asked, staring sternly at Thanos.

His eyes brightened and he gestured to the planet, which turned to a brand new landscape. The sky was bright, fresh green surrounded us and golden buildings glinted under the sun. People walked around leisurely in fancy clothes.

"This was my home," Thanos said reflectively. "Overpopulation ruined everything," the landscape turned back to normal. Red, barren deserts and foggy sky. "That's why I'm doing this."

"You don't know what you're doing," Strange said carefully, pointing to the gauntlet which was lit up with a few glowing stones, like the green one Doctor Strange had in his necklace.

Those are Infinity Stones!

"Maybe not," replied Thanos, "but I know you didn't come alone." Everyone jumped out at that and started fighting, so I followed and jumped down too.

Dad blasted him over and over again until he looked up at the sky and saw a giant moon hurtling toward him. Thanos laughed as it crashed into Dad, pinning him to the ground. I could hear his grunts as he got up, despite being very hurt.

I heard screaming and saw Mantis being thrown. I raced toward her and caught her before she hit the ground. "Are you okay?"

"Yes," she answered.

I let her down and ran over to Thanos, who was now fighting with Star-Lord. I webbed his arms, keeping him restrained.

Mantis jumped onto Thanos and tried to use her mind power on him. "He's too strong!" She cried. "We have to hurry."

"Peter!" Dad called me over. He was attempting to pull the gauntlet off. I grabbed it and helped him pull.

Come on, I thought, it's so close.

"What did you do to her?!" I heard Star-Lord yell angrily. He slapped Thanos hard with his gun and Thanos woke up from the mind control and yanked his arm back, putting the gauntlet back on.

"What was that dude?!" I screamed at Star-Lord but I could see tears in his eyes.

I felt bad, so I walked towards him but was blocked by a giant piece of debris falling in front of me. I turned around and Thanos grabbed me and slammed me into the cement.

"Insect," he spit out at me.

"Actually," I threw him off of me and jumped to my feet. "Spiders are an arachnid." I ran off.

*HARLEY'S POV*

We arrive in Wakanda fairly quickly. I was looking out the window of the helicarrier at all the forestry below me. Vast plains of green, various animals here and there. Then suddenly, we passed through some kind of force field and we were in a huge city.

So THIS is how they protect this place.

My mouth hanging open, I was gazing at the gleaming buildings and the beautiful nature. Everywhere I looked there was something new to see.
