Mckenzie POV

It was Saturday morning when I woke my head pounding, and my vision was incredibly blurry. My mom just thought I was sick still sense I had a cold the week before.

So later that day my mom took me to the hospital, sense I kept getting constantly sick. What my doctor said was like a bullet, it took my breath away.

I had cancer, not just any cancer. It was the one that infects your body and saves your heart and brain for last.

The doctors didn't even know what cancer it was but they had this happen before, it was curable.

My parents cried and cried, I knew they could pay for it and I knew I was scared. The doctors said I'd have to have surgery and tests done quickly in order to cure the cancer. I knew I'd live, I had to, I couldn't leave my friends, not now not ever.

I woke up Monday morning with my favorite song playing,"Amnesia" by 5SOS. It literally is the best comfort song, considering I need it right now.

I get up out of bed, turn off my alarm, and walk to the bathroom.

I look in the mirror to see my long brown hair a mess.

"Seriously," I say annoyed," doesn't this happen almost every morning.. Ughh."

I get out my comb and brush it till it's nice and straight. "Perfect." I say smiling proudly.

I get dressed and grab my bag, I almost walk out the house before I remember I forgot breakfast, I run into the house and grab a granola bar and my wallet and car keys, I just somehow forget... I say bye to my parents and wave goodbye.

As I pick lin and Hannah, I see a coffee shop and pop in real quick and grab some coffee for us.

I pull up to lin's house, apparently Hannah's sick and can't come to school today. I ring the door bell, Lin's mom walks up. "Good morning Mrs. Tran." I say happily. She says good morning and tells me lin will be out in a minute.

I wait in the car listening to lana del ray, Lin walks out smiling and waves, I show her that I got coffee and she runs to the car and hugs me. "OH MY GOSH, I'm so lucky to have a friend like you!" She says laughing.

"Your joking aren't you?" I say as we both get buckled in.

On the way to school we talk about how our weekend was, I only tell her about the stuff besides the hospital visit, I just couldn't tell her, she'd be so sad..

Lin tells me more about her crush, apparently she likes this guy named Ryan. She talks about him nonstop on the way to school.

We get to school and all I look at is Reis. He's so perfect. LITERALLY.

We've talked before but that was in the beginning of middle school and now we talk some, he's so kind, and caring.

I look to the girl next to him, Sophie.

Of course. Here I am the cancer girl, and there she is miss popular.

Whatever, I wouldn't say I'm unattractive but I'm not perfect, I have long straight brown hair, grey green eyes, and I'm not the tallest, but I'm sorta skinny.

But Sophie and her friends are who you'd see in magazines.

I walk past Reis and Sophie with Lin, I look over quickly to see his eyes following and he smiles his brilliant smile. I blush and walk to first period with my friend, Emily.
