She tries to be an ethical thief. People admire Robin Hood, right? She doesn't steal to sell it or buy drugs or be bad, it's just that her wages don't buy clothes and a roof over her head. She reminds herself that there are guys a block away that pull 30 dollars an hour when she only scraps 10.

This is the only way an orphaned street rat like her could survive, it's necessary. Especially in Crystal City, a majority of the population belongs to criminals. And out on the streets, there are only two rules: don't bring others into your mess and don't get caught.

Her name was Dia and she took those rules to heart.

She stuffs her hands in her tattered pockets, stiffening as a puff of cold wind sweeps through her dirty blonde hair. She could hear her stomach growl over the sound of the bustling streets of Crystal City.

She spots a boy that seemed about her age, dressed in a high-end suit, get into an expensive car with his family. God, they're lucky.

As their car drives off, she notices a busy grocery store. A smirk plays her lips as she waltzes to the owner of the shop who is swarmed with poor families, begging him for free food.

Her cat-like eyes never leaving his figure, she snatched an apple and banana. But suddenly, their eyes lock.

Uh-oh.

"HEY! YOU, GET BACK HERE!" He demands, grabbing a broom and chasing after the teen as she flees.

She pushes past citizens, bumping into carts and almost getting run over by a car. She finally jumps into an alleyway but he follows.

However, she disappeared. His eyes search for any sign of her. When he finally gave up, she jumps out from behind the trash can, releasing the breath she was holding in.

Dia climbs the ladder to the top of the house, jumping from rooftop to rooftop as she enjoys the view.

Suddenly, she sees the same expansive car that boy climbed into. She crouches down and watches as another car carelessly drives into it.

Dia gasps, examining the two cars.

The city went quiet and the only thing that could be heard was the sound of metal against metal. The expensive car flipped a few times, two teens somehow managing to squeeze their way out of the broken window.

She sees that the boy had a large piece of glass in his shoulder, beads of blood running down his forehead. The girl that also escaped was coughing up a storm and she had a black eye.

They both turn to the car, but before either of them could react, it explodes. Dia could hear a faint ringing, her eyes glued to the crying teens.

She covers her ears in pain because of the police sirens. In a matter of minutes, doctors aid the teens and detectives arrive.

As the scene replayed in her head, she realized that it wasn't an accident. The car knew exactly where it was going, it would have at least slowed or swiveled out of control. But it didn't, it just drove straight... right for the parents' car.

They even slowed but the car kept moving. And the driver, she remembered, was perfectly conscious. His eyes were glued to the road intently.

Was this planned? She wouldn't be surprised if it was, things like this happen all the time in Crystal City. But why would anyone target this rich and powerful family?

But something's for sure.

The League of Obsidians will be in contact. And that's not good.
