A dozen roses for a pretty face,
You do not know me,
If only that were the case!
A dozen roses, such a small fee!
for the happiness of a lady,
from an undeserving man like me!
Please do not take alarm,
Oh please, Oh please,
I mean you no harm!
Waiting for a smile,
I stand there,
and for quite a while.
I walk away my head hanging in shame
and I do not even,
know your name.
If ever I wish, my world not be so gray.
I must,
I must go to pay!
I do not reach out for you in greed.
Your happiness,
is all I'll ever need.
Now, a dozen roses, all gone and dead.
My heart is empty
and filled with dread.
In front of you, A box of sweets rest.
But you look at me,
as if I were a pest.
A box of sweets now reside in the trash,
Why must you go and be so
Rash?
I walk away my head hanging in shame
and I do not even,
know your name.
If ever I wish, my world not be so gray.
I must,
I must go to pay!
But My wallet is empty
and my heart is too.
All I have left, Is a poem,
addressed to You!
"A hard working man,
That I am!
But I cannot give you pricey things!
But that does not mean,
I can not love you,
No, not by any means!
I can give you the moon and the stars,
But I can not give you,
fancy cars!
In hard times I am here to talk.
But along the beach,
we may never walk.
A suitable house, for our kids is a must!
But I do not promise,
that I will not work till dusk.
Writing poems, Is not my knack,
But I will give you all I have,
and ask for nothing back!"
A diamond necklace
hangs from your neck
And then a business man,
gives you a peck.
A poem is crumbled by your desk
and the smile I so long awaited,
seems grotesque.
A hardworking and loving man,
That I am!
But a rich man,
That I am not!
I can not give you the finest of fine
But I would give you all my love,
If you were to ever be mine.
But your heart is filled with greed,
and I love like that,
I shall never need.
