Chapter one- And then came the boom

"Stop! Stop! plea-!", my body shook as he sat above me tickling me. His long slender fingers wrapped around my waist, as my hands pushed on his shoulders. "Not until you say it!", I could see the smile on his face. The same smile that gets me going in the mornings, the smile that makes my day, and that exact smile I live to see. "Okay! I....", he bent down, his lips hovering over my ear. "Say it Dy (dee)", I reached up so we were eye length. "I love you...today, tomorrow, and forever.", his beautiful brown eyes shimmered with content and love. "As I love you Dy (dee)", my lips met his.

The phone went off, just as I started to read the next paragraph.

"Ms. Paige, your mother is on the line.", the secretary spoke. My mother is always calling at random times during the day, simply to annoy me.

"Please tell her I'm unavailable.", my voice held annoyance. She just doesn't understand that I have work that needs to be done.

"Umm Ms. Paige she says that it's important...really important.", Jamie answered with worry in her voice. Mother, she never gives up without a fight.

"Okay, connect me Jamie.", I hear the lines being switched. "Kennedy Paige, how dare you make your mother wait! I know you were considering ignoring my call! I gave birth to you, the least you could do is answer me.", mother was always known for the guilt trick.

"Yes, mother as you wish.", my voice full of sarcasm. I could hear my mother roll her eyes, "Cut the sarcasm Kennedy, it isn't becoming. Anyways as I was trying to tell you, Allison West is getting married."

Allison West, golden daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay West. Sister to...him. Harvard graduate, straight A student, do gooder for the community, and drop dead gorgeous. Hell that girl has so much kindness in her, it sometime makes me want to throttle her.

"The best part though is that we were invited to a wedding celebration! You must be there no excuses, understand missy?", she ended the line, before I could decline. Mom always liked going to these town social events, it made her feel special. Our town was about the size of a pea. Everyone knew everyone. Secret was a foreign word in our community. If you were one of the lucky ones, you'd find a way to escape this gossiping town. And as you can see... I guess I'm not the "one who got away".

I decided to go shopping for an appropriate outfit, for Alison's celebration. Racks of colors were strewed everywhere. Every color you could imagine of was here. Mother informed me it was formal attire and that supposedly someone "special" will be there, so I needed to look my best. My eyes roam the racks of elegant dresses ranging from; ball gown, a line, empire waist, cocktail, sheath, and mermaid. I was never the one to go shopping, better yet pick out a dress that's fit for a formal occasion.
