Chapter Twenty-Four: Birthday (Part Two)
"Yo, LSP."
"Hey, Marcy. Wanna come over to my house and chill? I'm bored outta my face!"
"Hahaha. Sure, just text me your address and I'll be there."
"Okay, hon!"
Marceline hung up the phone call and went to freshen up. When she received a text message from LSP stating her address plus the directions to get there without getting lost, she kind of dreaded the route she had to take. Still, she set off for her house.

Cloud-piercing trees shot up from the ground, disappearing into the foliage above. Vines hung down from the canopy like veils of curtains. Driving in the middle of the woods alone gave Marceline the chills especially when she recalled what she had saw here in the first place. But as long as she was inside her car, she was safe and nothing could touch her...she hoped.
Every time she entered the woods, it felt like she was being watched.
Luckily Marceline heeded LSP's direction to just travel on the road leading to a causeway path and eventually, it led to her house. Speaking of which, it was huge. It had a lilac roof, pink walls, blue windows, and trees on its left. She had no clue that the twins belonged to a wealthy family. She pushed the button beside the front door, the doorbell ringing throughout the whole house. Seconds later, the door unclosed by itself. Weird, but she went in anyway.
"SURPRISE!!!"
A group of people exulted with youthful exuberance and Marceline's heart leapt with joy. Above their heads, a huge red banner hung, emblazoned with the words 'HAPPY BDAY, MARCY!' in large, black and bold print. The whole room was decorated in her favorite colors. She stood and stared in blank amazement, speechless.
"Come on, don't look so shocked! It's your birthday!" LSP chirped, pulling her into the throng of people.
For the first time in a long time, Marceline was the center of attention, bombarded with birthday wishes (some fake, some genuine) which she nevertheless said thanks to. Except for the bunch of strangers (who were just party guests, and Marshall's fans from the party in the woods before), people she actually knew were all here. LSP, Finn, LP and-
"Happy annual anniversary of your birth."
Even Bonnibel.
"Uh, thanks." Marceline said, not expecting her presence here.
Bonnibel gave her a paper bag containing a wrapped gift. "I got you a present."
Marceline accepted the gift and was about to express her appreciation but then she wondered, why was Bonnibel being so nice to her?
"Marcy, come on! You gotta cut the cake! It's not a birthday without cake!" LSP exclaimed excitedly in her deep, nasally voice that made her laugh, pulling her away from Bonnibel.
Marceline felt like a kid. She couldn't help but feel a little disconcerted when everyone sang a birthday song for her, and watched her blow the candles before slicing the cake. It was strange because she never had so many people celebrate her in her life before. Maybe she should just bask in the spotlight.
"Thanks for throwing me a surprise party, dude."
"No prob." LSP said contentedly.
Marceline's eyes scanned the room. Throughout this whole celebration, there was still one person she had yet to see, and she felt kind of forlorn without him.
"Where's Marshall?" she asked.
"Oh, he said he'll be here," LSP informed her. "Funny, 'cause this party's actually his idea, but he told us to carry on anyway."
"Wait, what? Marshall's actually the one who planned this whole surprise birthday party thing just for me?"
"Yup."
Marshall had even convinced Bonnibel to come here. Marceline felt, in a way, touched.
"Your parents don't mind?"
LSP snorted at the mention of 'parents'. "My parents are horrible idiots, they wouldn't know. Plus, they're on vacation, so me and my bro have the house all to ourselves." she told her.
"Oh," Marceline said, unsure whether to make a remark about her strained relationship with her folks or just change the subject, and then decided on the latter. "Wanna like, dance or somethin'?"
"Oh ya! First you should check out my house. It's, like, kinda lame but way less lame than Marshall's house. That's why I offered to throw the party here." she suggested.
"Okay, sure."
