Red Snow, Black Ice

Chapter 5

Im saaaawwwryyyy I havent been on in a while. I've been so busy and mind blocked XP but here you go.

"Well, look who decided to come down." Ryan was leaning against the counter in the kitchen, smiling and biting an apple, acting like nothing happened. I stopped in the doorway and crossed my arms, trying to brave the uncomfortable tension.

"I wanted to know if there was any heat in here because my room is freezing." I get a shiver so I wrap my arms tighter around my body.

"Oh, really? I didn't even notice.I can turn up the heat in your room then." His face looks comepletely blank so I can't figure out what he's feeling. Ryan sets down his half eaten apple and walks past me. I shift a little as he goes by. There was no body heat at all radiating from him onto me. Maybe, he's cold and was trying to be brave. Ryan runs upstairs and I'm left alone in the dimly lit downstairs.

I just stand there for a couple seconds and then decide to go look around the kitchen. I look in the fridge and there's food in there that looks like it was just bought and never eaten. I go looking through the cupboards and find the weirdest silverware and plates, they look ancient. I feel my stomach grumble. I'm so hungry, probably everything that's going on. I wonder where he got that apple? I decide to just take a bite of his. I grab it off the counter and before I can take a bite, Ryan walks in yelling.

"No! Don't eat that!" He runs up and swipes it from my hand and throws it in the garbage.

"What'd you do that for!? It's not poison, I'm not scared of boy germs!" Ryan looks back at me nervous.

"I just...uhm...thought you should have a new one, that one has been sitting on the counter for a bit." He chuckles as if that was a lie and gets me a new one from the fridge. He hands it to me.

"You're acting really weird." I say as I take a bite of my fresh, new, red apple. I can taste the sweetness and I just smile. Ryan is looking at his feet. I start to feel sorry for yelling at him and I decide to change the subject.

"I'm sorry. Hey, do you want to see a movie?" Ryan looks up as I finish my apple and throw the core out. He starts to smile and he's back to his normal self.

"Sure, I don't have any movies here that we haven't seen. We can go out if you want as long as we're careful. You're safe with me so we could see the new movies. I'll pay." Finally, something to do! I get excited as I remember the new movie that came out.

"Hey, could we see that new vampire movie 'He Stole My Life From Me'?" He flinches. Huh, that was strange.

"Sure, why not. It's a date. We'll leave right now, just let me get my wallet." I wait for him and I just realize he said it was a date. Wait, does Ryan like me? I instantly grin like an idiot without meaning to. I notice this and quickly stop and get my boots and coat on.
