Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon.
May Maple could hear the thundering of her footsteps on the cold hard ground.
She could feel the wet tears rolling down her cheeks.
She could also hear the pounding of another pair of feet on the ground.
Drew Hayden.
Who had hurt her.
Who expected her to forgive him every single time he'd hurt her.
You're such a baby.
Why can't you try to do better?
Why are you even my rival?
May blinked back tears from her blurry vision. She didn't know where she was going. She didn't care. All she wanted was to get away from him. Just then, she felt the light patter of raindrops on her head.
Great. It was raining now.
And Drew was still behind her.
She quickened her footsteps, trying to get as far away form Drew as possible.
From her blurry vision and through the rain that was getting heavier and heavier, she could faintly make out the wide, stormy sky and a cliff-
A sharp cry was torn from her lips as she felt the ground no longer become solid and saw her life flash before her eyes.
Maybe it's better this way... She thought to herself before closing her eyes and bracing herself for impact.
It never came.
Instead, she felt her arm being grabbed by a pair of arms as she hung between life and death. Her eyes fluttered open and she immediately found herself staring into the depths of Drew's emerald orbs.
'Why won't you let me go? Why won't you let me die? After all, I don't mean anything to you, do I?' She croaked, voice cracking.
She felt his strong arms lift her up and pull her into an embrace. She kicked and struggled, trying to break free but it was no use. Drew was too strong.
'You're wrong. You do mean something to me, May.'
'What, trash? Dirt? What do I mean to you? Just let me die, Drew!' May cried.
He didn't answer just yet.
Slowly, surely, he closed the distance between them. She felt a jolt run through her as his lips pressed against hers, and before she could react, his tongue was exploring her mouth. She felt the anger, the sadness, the bitterness ebb away as she melted into the kiss, running her fingers through his soaked hair. One of his arms was wrapped around her waist, the other around her head.
And as they stood there, soaked to the skin, kissing in the pouring rain, he whispered, 'Everything.'
