There are five of us in the J Ward – Ray, Sheila, Paul, Darcie, and me. Ray is the oldest. He’s estimated to be seventeen, but that’s only approximate. He has dark, jet-black hair and icy grey eyes, so light they’re almost white.
Sheila is estimated to be sixteen. She has dirty blonde hair that goes halfway down her back and central heterochromia. In Sheila’s case she has deep blue eyes with brown centers.
Paul is estimated to be fifteen. He has dirt brown hair and black eyes. Like, if you look into his eyes, you don’t see his pupils, just black.
Darcie is three years old, with dirty blonde to her shoulders, usually pulled back into two ponytails via Sheila. Darcie has complete heterochromia. This means she has one blue eye and one green eye. When I say blue and green, I mean the exact same shade as the sky and actual green, not blue green.
And as for me? My name is Ben. No last name, none of us have them, it’s just Ben. I have this weird reddish brown nutmeg colored hair, and amber eyes. Not orange, not brown, but amber. I’m estimated to be sixteen.
So that’s us in a nutshell. And while we may not look like much, we can do extraordinary things. We can Jump anyplace, anywhere, anytime.
We live at The Precinct. Don’t ask me where it is, because I don’t know. It’s divided into various wards, people in every ward, people ranging from newborns to old men on their deathbeds.
I don’t know much about the Precinct, but I do know one thing: we’re here forever. I guess it’s a sort of orphanage in ways, but at the same time it’s not because there are grown adults in here with us.
Everyone at The Precinct can do something.
Some can Jump, some are psychics, some are geniuses, some are shape shifters, some are telekinetic, some are telepathic, some are disease experiments, and some are mistakes.
Psychics know everything and can sense everything. Geniuses are one step below psychics, they’re just really smart. Shape shifters can morph into anything. Telekinetics can move things with their minds. Telepathics can read minds and send messages to a person’s mind. Disease experiments have diseases injected into them so they can be studied to find a cure. Mistakes are just mistakes. They weren’t meant to be, and usually don’t live long. They’re the ones that are studied the most.
Darcie is a mistake. She will always be three, she will never age. She wasn’t supposed to be created, but she was because of the result of a lab accident. Along with the ability to Jump, she’s a genius. All mistakes have some discoloration. Darcie’s is in her heterochromia and her two different colored eyes.
Darcie has been changing, though, and not necessarily for the better. The truth is, no one knows with the mistakes.
