A/N: Hello again! I haven't posted anything new on any of my stories because I'm too busy and I have no energy to start writing and post. But I'll post something at least to make myself feel better. Hope you all enjoy!
Slightly influenced by the song: Normandie - Awakening.
Warnings: gore, abuse, horrific nightmares and depression. Angst and fluff.
y/n - your name, y/f/n - your friend's name

"The General? What about him?" you asked y/f/n. They looked up to you with surprise. What was wrong?
"The General isn't here, y/n. No one's seen him at all today and everyone is worried, without him everything's chaos", they whispered in worry.
You nearly choked on your own spit from hearing this. You were so busy in the sickbay to even know that the General wasn't here. You started to chew your cheek in fear and worry.
"Has no one gone to check his quarters?" you asked y/f/n.
"...No? Whoever does that has a death wish, unless it's you of course", they shot you a smirk. You glared at them with a "this isn't the time" look.
"Well you're right, I'm going to check on him." You got up from your seat in the cafeteria before they could say anything and headed to the General's office.
- Later -
You slowed down once you came to his quarters. You were nervous, to say the least. You were the first person to come to his quarters, except Kylo Ren and other jittery troopers who seemed to have seen a ghost and were petrified for weeks. You smoothed down your uniform, inhaled a deep breath and held a determined look on your face. Slowly bringing our hand to knock, you knocked three times and stopped.
Nothing. You heard nothing for a minute or two. You started to become worried and knocked again. You heard nothing again and finally decided he wasn't there and left. And so you did.
Inside, Hux was sitting in his bed, quietly staring blankly at the door. He didn't move an inch, too tired and gone to move a muscle to the noise. He thought it was Ren or an insolent trooper, so he kept his mouth shut and stayed as quiet as possible. Hux's eyes were bloodshot as his eyes stung with dry tears stained on his cheeks. His skin was pale with grief. He lost hope in himself.
- His Dream -
"Who are you?" he heard his voice call out to the darkness. All he could see was grey and an unearthly shadow looming in the distance. He stepped closer although he didn't want to. Stepping closer and closer with paralysed fear, he started to see small details appear in front of him. First, feet that were dirty and worn out, to legs covered in mud and what seemed to be dried blood and slashes, hands bit with red and blue and dirt painfully burrowed under jagged nails, a torso covered in a shirt of black but covered in a thick red substance and finally...
your face. Covered in a sheet of red that was similarly covering your shirt, he realised it was blood. You looked like hell. He thought at first in a panic that you killed someone, but then he saw the figure behind you. It was Snoke towering over your petrified figure with a grin of pure insanity gleaming towards Hux. Hux was scared for dear life. What did you do to her? Snoke suddenly slashed a hand down to your back, hearing your horrific scream echo around him as you fell to the ground. He tried to run towards you but his feet were stuck. He tried again but it was too late.
- present -
His eyes cast down to his hands. He was disappointed in himself. he couldn't save you, even it was in his dreams, he was supposed to keep you safe. He looked towards the time only to realise in pure shock it was already noon. He quickly got up and got ready as fast as he could without tripping and looking like a mess. Finally, he took in a deep breath and told himself he was being childish, he could think about it later and finally left his quarters only to be dealt with a mess in the base he would have to deal with by himself.
- Y/n pov -
It was past lunch and you were already started your shift in the sickbay. You were still worried about Hux. If he wasn't in his room, where could he be? You decided it wasn't the time to think about it, and unluckily for you, you had a mess to deal with in the bay as it seemed there were more patients than any other day. Seems like him not being here has made people become more careless.
Wrapping a bandage around one of your patient's arms, you sighed. Why do I care so much about Hux anyways? He barely speaks to me and whenever he did, it was either for me to fetch him something or to compliment me on a small task I have done. Peculiar.
Slowly cleaning the sick bay before going home, you walked out of the room as you were the last day nurse in the area. Locking the door of your office and giving your farewells to the two night nurses and the med-bots, you walked back home with anxiety and dread. Unbeknownst to you, as you were looking down at the ground half asleep, you bumped right into a body as you turned a corner. Coming out of your state of sleep, you gasped in shock, only to stop breathing when you saw a ginger general stand in front of you looking just as shocked as you were. For a split second, he got angry until he realised it was you, too which his features softened.
"Hux? Oh my gosh, are you okay? I haven't seen you all day and I was worrying!" you cried out.
'Hold on... you? Worried about him? ' he thought. He looked guilty and sad, and you realised he wasn't okay.
You slowly came up to him and cupped his face with one hand, tilting his head up to you to meet his eyes with worry.
"I'm sorry y/n..." he murmured to you. You smiled slightly at him and hugged him, his head coming to rest at your neck and to feel his muscles relax in your embrace.
"Don't apologise... what's wrong?" you whispered into his hair which smelt a lot like musk and amber.
"I-" he was cut off by a choke which came from him before he started to break down in your arms. Sobbing into your neck, you rubbed his back in comfort and kissed his hair.
"I saw you in my dream. You were... hurt by Snoke and then he, he-" he choked, "he hit you and I couldn't save you y/n, I'm sorry!" he pleaded.
"shh, it's okay, it was just a dream Hux, I'm okay, you're okay..." you whispered to him.
He clung to you for dear life and your heart felt heavy with grief. You wished he could've spoken to you earlier about this.
You cupped his face back in your hands and swept his tears away, looking at him with love that he never saw in his entire life. His breath nearly stopped when he saw how much love was in your eyes for him that your eyes were glassy. He cupped your face and held your waist, kissing your nose and forehead. It was truly an awakening that shouldn't have been so horrific, but he realised it was time for him to ask for help.
"I love you y/n, thank you", he mumbled into your hair.
"I love you too, Hux."
