I knelt there, staring up at the gray sky wondering when the bright blue streaks will peek through but no matter how long I looked, nothing happened. I dug my nails into the dirt letting my pain soak into the ground that once was covered by many beautiful flowers.

Instead of flowers covering the bare land, dead bodies of fallen soldiers have fallen by the masses. All you could see was a river of blood with a lingering smell of death beneath your feet. Was I suppose to scream? or hide? maybe run away from all this? never. Not in a million years will I fall to let the love of my life to kill me now and run from his fear. Our fear.

I grabbed the sword that was just across from me. I used what strength I had left to push myself back to my feet. I stumbled over rocks, weapons, and the body's just to reach him. There was no one in sight to grab my hand or to help me stand. I was alone on this silent death day.

As I walked up to the hill I could see slight movement. My sight was already bad enough but I knew who was already at the top waiting for me.

My heart grew heavy as I ached my way to the top. I could see him there gliding his blade across raw flesh. He was skilled and my men could not beat him but I could. As I got to the top I fell to my knees. "That's enough Feng Xu!" I screamed, clutching my sword to my chest. "Stop killing! how much more do you intend to take away from me!?" I glared at him

One of my soldiers order me to retreat but I stood still to hear his response. He lowered his sword and turned his head to the side of his shoulder. "If you didn't cause this much problems maybe I wouldn't have to kill your men to stop me...this is your fault that you brought this upon yourself, Ying Yue."

I got up slowly from where I stood, "My fault?...Ha...THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED IF YOU DIDN"T CHEAT ON ME!" I drew both of my hands back and flung my sword right at him.

    Chapter 1: Two buds

"Come on Mei Ling!, the farmers market is just right beyond this next corner!" I shouted, picking my feet up to my slack. They open all day and into the night but I chose to be there the earliest as I could be, that's when the food is best at its highest quality.

" Ying Yueee!!, slow down! your father might kill me if you keep trying to slip away from your task at home!" Mei Ling let out a huge sigh as she tried to catch up with her young mistress through the thick crowd.

"Who cares what my father has to say!, I wanna get him a gift to make up for my slack." I turned around and winked at her. "Hee Hee don't worry so much! I'm his only child" I stuck out my tongue to tease her.

Mei Ling gave a disappointed look of disapproval. " Mistress...please don't try to con your father with gifts, that won't change the fact you still have to write your punishment paper that's due in by the end of the day." Mei Ling started to slow down and gave a worried concern at her Mistress.

With a sigh Ying, Yue stomped her feet turning around to face Mei and grasped Mei Ling's shoulders firmly. "Let's just enjoy ourselves before  my father finds out!" I grabbed her hand and lead her away into the glorious market of treasures.

I could never get tired of looking at the rows of the table that hold lots of goodies. Though I knew my father was the richest man in town I wanted to give him something that would be meaningful. My mother recommended me to sew a picture of a bird and I've tried to be a proper lady but my skills are more meant for sword fighting. The bird ended up looking like a puddle of mud.

Then in the corner of my eye, I saw a pendulum that was a bright red, inside it was a resin phoenix with its wings stretched out. It was detailed work that musta took ages to craft.

"Mei Ling!, look what I found a ruby pendulum! do you think it will suit father?" I placed the necklace on my chest.

Mei Ling took a gander at Ying Yue and sighed.

I frowned at Mei Ling, "Well I'm going to buy it!" I handed the necklace to the sells men. "I would like to buy this please, how much would it be?"

The sells man gently grabbed the necklace from Ying Yue hands. "It would be 5,000 spades" he smiled.

Mei Ling stepped in grabbing Ying Yue arm, "Are you crazy!?, like you have that kind of money!" Ying Yue shrugged Mei's hand off, " Of course I do!" she reached in the back of her pocket and pulled out a bag of coins. "Looky what I got Mei" Ying shook the bag and handed it off to the man.

Mei Ling eyes popped right out again grabbing Ying arm, " Did you steal that from your father's vault!?, how is this a gift to your father when you stole it!"

Ying Yue took her hand off her arm and hold it, " Its gonna be okay, he has all the money in the world! like he would notice a change", Ying smiled and quickly gave the money to the sells men. "Thank you for such wonderful art!" the sells man responded "Your welcome my lady" as he smirked to the side.

Mei Ling gave Ying a deathly look, " The necklace wasn't for your father was it?..." Ying quickly put the necklace on her and tucked it in her shirt. "Pish, of course, it was for ma father" then she quickly dashed away from her handmaiden.

"Wait, Mistress!" Mei soon followed her through the crowd.

Laughing Ying Yue ran with acceleration but didn't watch where she was going and slammed into a tall figure, causing a scene in the market.
