Chapter 10: Another trial

The S-class trial came again, and again there were wizards who would compete. This year, the wizards were Natsu, Levy, Gray and Wendy. Wendy paired up with Romeo, and Levy paired up with her fiancé Gajeel. Gray chose Juvia and Natsu paired up with Lucy. The tasks were simple, first task was to fight one S-class wizard. Mira was destroyed by Levy, Wendy outsmarted Gildarts. Gray left Laxus completely frozen and Natsu actually won against Erza. Second round was duels. Levy and Gajeel won against Gray and Juvia, while Natsu and Lucy, had a hard time fighting Romeo and Wendy. Wendy was able to cancel out Natsu's fire while Romeo made fire so yucky, Natsu didn't want to eat it. Lucy has stood on the sidelines at first but then she stepped into the fight. She then pulled out the keys of Scorpio, Aquarius and Libra. She usually didn't use Libra or Pisces because she felt wrong using Yukino's keys. But Yukino wanted Lucy to have them. While Aquarius put out Romeos fire, Scorpio shot sand at Wendy. She could have escaped but Libra made sure she couldn't walk away. Natsu was impressed and made a joke about her being a better candidate for the S-class than him. That's when she said:" Yeah you're right. Next year I will whip your butt!"

Natsu was surprised:" W-what do you mean by that?"

"I mean that I will make you an S-class wizard this year and then beat you next year in my S-class trial. But I am getting ahead of myself."

Natsu blushed. Lucy was so confident and even made jokes about him like he does about her. She sure changed drastically from the girl he met into a confident young lady.

He whispered:" You are amazing!" He had hoped she didn't him but she blushed slightly and asked him: „You think so?"

He was a bit in shock that she had heard him but he then answered: „Y-yes I do."

After 5 minutes Wendy accepted defeat. Natsu's team went on and got to the third task. This was a bit more difficult because they were supposed to find something on this island that had a connection to our first master and to her past. We knew not many things about her, except for the fact that she was in love with Zeref once. Lucy had the idea to summon grandpa crux and asked if he knew something about Mavis, but he only knew she never had contact with any celestial spirits or wizards. Lucy and Natsu started walking towards a big stone they saw and found out that it was a building. Apparently it once was a school and they were greeted there by non-other than Mavis herself. "Why hello there you two, I never would have guessed to see you here. I lived in this building for 7 years with only .... you know what, never mind that. What are you two doing here?" Lucy was the first one to reply:" We are winning the S-class trial!" Mavis smiled:" It is this time of year again isn't it? Well best of luck. Makarov said he wanted to make you search for something that connects to my youth. I did spent a lot of time in the library when I was young. "Natsu grinned:" Thanks first master. We are happy to know that." When they went down the stairs they found Makarov already sitting in the library: "Congrats you two, you managed to finish the third challenge. The last one will be hard so I suggest you relax and regain some strength. The last challenge begins tomorrow." They sat down in one corner and Lucy pulled one book out of the board next to them. "Hey Luce? Will you read me a story?", Natsu's voice was a bit shaky and he did blush asking that but Lucy replied:" Yes, I would love to." It was already late and they were tired so it didn't take long for both of them to fall asleep while Lucy read. The stone floor was really cold so Lucy hugged Natsu in their sleep because he was so warm. When he noticed that he kissed her forehead and soon after fell asleep again. In all honesty, it didn't bother either of them to be this close. Since they met, they had a special friendship stronger than steel. Or was it more?
