We worked like that for two hours before going downstairs to eat something and came back up right after. The work was simpler than we thought and it was now finished.

That's how we started talking, the discussion was obviously about the darker parts of our past, but it was good for both of us to talk about it.

He told me why he was hiding his face, it all started with his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather, who condemned and mistreated a servant girl for scarring her face. The maid turned out to be a witch, who cursed him and the rest of his male descendants.

Therefore, a curse has been passed down from generation to generation where the male offspring would have a hideous mark on their face, and the curse could only be broken if someone loved them despite their outward appearance.

None of the male family members on his mother's side had broken the curse. Moreover, once he reaches the age of 18, the curse would be eternal, marking his face for life.

It may sound totally crazy but I couldn't help but believe it, I was sincere with him, he was sincere with me too, I couldn't see myself telling him that I didn't believe him.

An hour later we knew almost all of each other's lives. Chris had to come home now, I say goodbye reluctantly, I would have liked to spend the evening talking to him, about everything and anything, like friends.

I closed the door behind him and went to see my mother who was cooking in the kitchen.

"-Thank you for letting me invite him, so we managed to finish everything in one afternoon, the instructions were not that complicated.

-That's nothing, after all, you should have seen each other to do this assignment. But tell me, you seemed to be having a good time, I've often heard you laugh.

-Mom not again...!

-I'm just saying I'm happy that you have someone to talk to and laugh with, I just want you to be happy, sweetheart.

-Oh, now I feel a little bit bad for thinking you were implying something, I laugh, a little embarrassed.

-But he was very cute despite that bandage, you should enjoy it, he almost looked at you as the 8th wonder of the world when he left.

-Stop it, it's embarrassing, I said blushing, otherwise what are we having for dinner tonight?"
