Summary: Calypso Nightshade is an orphaned caste 6. She has been abandoned, her real talents wasted, working for a rich family to survive. She longs only for someone to care for her, and yet she remains utterly alone. But she was not always a 6. Leo Valdez, Crown Prince of Olympus Illéa, hates the stuffy, formal meetings he is forced to attend. What he really loves is tinkering with machines or laughing with his friends. But when his parents, King Hephaestus and Queen Esperanza, announce that it's time for him to hold a Selection of his own, he is surprised but curious to meet someone who could love him. When this unlikely pair meets under the circumstances of the Selection, sparks, both good and bad, fly for sure. But then a terrible incident occurs, and Calypso and Leo must untangle their thoughts and feelings to save themselves and their country.
