Chapter Twenty

{Introducing King, the Forgotten Animal}

Sorry it took so long to update. I was outside for like, ever, and then I went over to my neighbors and he doesn't shut up. And now I'm getting blamed for writing down the wrong number. I'M DYSLEXIC, GIMME A BREAK.

Dedicated to the people killed and traumatized by the shooting at the school today </3 America has lost 20 kids from the age of 5-10 and six adults today. 12/14/12 </3

“That didn’t just happen.” Kaylee mutters, watching me as I type the number into my phone and shove the card into my pocket. I sigh, leaning back against the window. Time to go the rest of the way.

I slept the rest of the way to London. When I wake up, I’m starving. Well, it feels like I am. The boys were going to get here in an hour or so. They had to talk to Simon, alone. Thank gawd they weren’t with us. I could help Kaylee buy some things for Niall.

“Ryan!” Kaylee squeals, making me jump.

“Huh?” I mutter, rubbing my eyes.

“We’re in London.” Kaylee laughs, making me roll my eyes. It had been a longish train ride because of all the stops. I like flying better.

“Oh yay! Can we go to my dad’s house really quick?” I tilt my head. Yes, I just said that. One of the reasons I was happy that the boys weren’t coming was so I could talk to my Dad. I hadn’t in a while and I needed to get stuff from their anyways. Niall and Zayn were the ones coming. Liam and Harry were going to have a day to only them and Louis was going to spend the day with his mum.

“Uh, sure.” She nods, looking at me weirdly.

“Thanks.” I smile. Soon, we’re out of the train station and into the car the boys rented for us.

“Have you ever thought about what will happen when all the boys have girlfriends?” Kaylee asks me after a moment of silence. I drive the familiar route to the house I hadn’t been to in a while.

“Not really. I just guess I don’t believe I’ll last that long.” I shrug, keeping my eyes on the road.

“What do you mean?” Kaylee snorts and I can tell from the corner of my eye she is staring at me.

“I don’t believe in love. Louis does. I don’t really believe in long-term relationships. Louis does.” I ramble, not looking at Kaylee again.

“You don’t believe in love or long-term relationships?” She scoffs.

“No.” I tell her honestly, pulling onto the road that leads to my old house.

                “Why not?”

“My parents didn’t love each other. Not at all; they said they did but they didn’t. And their relationship wasn’t long-term.”

“So, pretty much, you just don’t believe in what your parents didn’t have?”

                “Pretty much.”

“So you believe in kids then?” I can tell Kaylee is smirking.

                “No.”
