Chapter One
{Introducing Ryan}
“Ha, I knew you couldn’t just leave me.” I smirk into the smart phone, leaning against the leather couch in my new living room. In my new flat. Lovely.
“It’s an interview. Not the real damn job.” My dad snaps on the other side of the phone. Still smirking, I grab my bottle of water on the coffee table. It wasn’t cold; cold water was nasty. It gave you chills and just, EW.
“Sure.” I sigh, gulping down the water.
“It’s tomorrow at nine.” He includes and I spit a little of it out, coughing hard.
“In the morning?” I cough out, wiping my mouth.
“No. At night.” I sigh with relief. “Yes, in the fucking morning!”
“Oi, I’mma die.” I groan, hanging up from the call and putting my feet up on the coffee table. Nine in the fucking morning. Who the fuck gets up that damn early? Is it even light out then?
I really worry about other people sometimes. How they all have to work and do stuff on their own. I feel bad, they have to do dishes and make their own food. Clean clothes and work to buy new clothes. But, that’s Stone Age times. Now, everyone is rich. Right?
Wandering into the pure white kitchen, I scoff at it. It’s extremely boring. I grab an apple out of the fridge and bite into it. When the green apple, sour taste hits me I run to the garbage can and spit the nasty thing out. First things first, don’t buy green apples. They’re horrible.

“What song are you singing?” The guy with huge headphones on asks into the microphone. It comes into the recording room, making me jump.
“Firework by Katy Perry.” I sigh, fixing my own headphones. Why I had to wear them I don’t know.
“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag,
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards,
One blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you” I sing, tapping my foot to the beat. The ground gets suddenly fascinating.
“You just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in "awe, awe, awe"
You don't have to feel like a wasted space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow” I keep on singing, not bothering to look up. I finally do though when a voice comes through my headphones and I jump.
“Stop.” The voice echoes. And the voice belongs to the one and only Simon Cowell.
“I did.” I snap and cover my mouth quickly. I did not just do that.
I watch Simon Cowell whisper something to the other guy before looking at me. “We’ll go on a trial. If the boys like you, then we’ll hire you. If they don’t you don’t get the job.”
“The boys?” I raise an eyebrow. I was working with boys? Oh yay. Hint the sarcastic tone?
“Yes. Ever heard of One Direction?” Simon asks and I shrug. I’ve heard of them but don’t know a lot about them. I’ve covered a couple of their songs. Listened to them on the radio. Heard drama about them.
“Kind of. Why?” I ask, clueless.
“Those are the boys. And you’ll be working for them. As their opening act in concerts and such. Also, you’ll be living with them to see if you guys work out.” Simon explains and my jaw drops. Holy shit.
“Let’s go.” Simon tells me after a couple minutes of silence. I take the headphones off and grab my bag, following the one and only Simon Cowell to One Direction’s home. Oh joy.
It's extremely short. I'm sorry.
